What i think papz is getting at is exactly that gardner has better tools than coles or boldin, he just hasnt put the mental part together. so coles and boldin are better recievers with great tools today. should gardner put it all together he has the potential to out produce them both. we here in new orleans though are quite sure of the difference between talent/tools and production.
*and i apologize for using the word potential, i know of its bad conotation and its actual meaning of "second round choice." |

No way is Talman going to be that good. Can he be a 3rd WR possible... Get a look at him in camp, personally, physically I think he is more suited to play RB. I saw them in camp last year and he didn't look 6-1 as listed just about everywheres. I didn't see speed from him nor have I seen him able to break away and get open. I know that is something you learn but Black to me was better in camp last year and has more potential.

Yea jbutts, that's exactly what I'm saying. Trust me... if you watch ACC football and the years in which Boldin played and Gardner played, Gardner no doubt by far has more athletic ability than Boldin.
I agree Boldin is the better player and probably will always be. He has what Gardner doesn't... desire and drive. But as far as "physical tools", Gardner has an edge in that department. It may have a stretch with Coles, but I personally like bigger and more physical receivers. Coles definately can out run Gardner with his sub 4.4 speed, but Gardner wouldn't lose by much and he has a couple of inches on him. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you can't put it all together... you are squat. Lawernce Phillips, Cecil "The Diesel" Collins, Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, Dave Klinger, Andre Ware, etc... As far as talent level, these guys were off the charts. As far as putting it all together, none of them were successful. I hope by the time Gardner finishes his career, I won't have to put him in this category along with these players. So far in camp, he's shedding this label. |

not buying this... NFL is a far different league than ACC. He mayhave looked good against weaker coverage you need to go see them in camp, in person and you'll see Gardner just isn't even close to Boldin as far as athletic ability goes.

lol :P ... you know me... it's hard for me to give up on youngsters so soon.
Trust me... I know the ACC is far from the NFL, but if you only knew how bad Boldin was... really bad. They even tried him at fullback after he blew it one year as a receiver. Weaker coverage he was not going up against... look at the teams and the corners the ACC has produced. Miami, Virginia Tech... these programs are producing top notch corners for the NFL year in and year out. |
