This year however... We just got rolled. And we couldn't do enough to come back.

It's hard to get mad when it's your own damn fault.

I don't think we got rolled, though. We rolled over.

We were just bad today -- both sides of the ball. Couldn't stop the run ( we were famous for that all season ). I mean Jesus -- we know who Adam Thelin is, ok? Don't get me started on the O Line. Can't blame this one on the refs. So.... yeah. Rolled over and went to sleep. Tomorrow, I bet there are many questions in the locker room and front office.

because I told you its what the league wanted. I just figured theyd make it more realistic than losing to the Vikings lol. if you are a grown man between 30 and 60 etc. and you still think youre watching a natural competition. You need to re-look at your life and perceptions. The Saints have always lost when it counts but for 2006. they arent going back for another 50 years

We lost because we had 'em and Payton called off the dogs and pulled Taysom out of the game on what was a game winning drive...

WE HAD THEM...

So much for "saving" the run game for the playoffs huh  ?

Peat was getting skull drug throughout the game pre injury. If you are struggling in a PLAYOFF game, make :censored: adjustments. Instead of inserting Easton (had played well while AP was injured), coach throws Onameh out there instead.

Unclear why SP would activate & start Peat when Easton had been playing so well. The former 1st rounder played poorly in a game that meant everything. Not a bust, but he's close for me. I see no way to defend this guy. 2 seasons and he's still missing assignments/blocks.

Stubborn coach :brood:.

Side note observation inside a minute -

Remember the false start penalty on Kamara late in the game when guys weren't set? All I know is that Brees had to wait on Tre to get on the field. That miscue cost us 11 seconds to run off and go back 5 yards.

Trequan Smith has been a huge disappointment in New Orleans.

Its why we have always valued interior linemen highly. Our interior line just got beat today, which is one of the reasons Brees looked so awful.

I'm positive we'll see big money or a high draft pick on OG in the offseason.

Often overlooked but the main reason we were so successful in 2009 was Carl Nicks and Jari Evans. Interior lineman are always the unsung heroes.

Yep. Especially when you have a shorter QB.. keeps those passing lanes clear in the pocket

I'm glad that wasn't called. Like last year's non-call, this is yet another shiny object waved in front of the eyes of fans who don't want to look at the bigger picture and realize Payton coached a bad game, and Brees played like trash.

We as fans have become one of the whiniest fan bases in all of American sports. You guys should seriously go check out other NFL teams' forums and see what they think about us. Few fans have any sympathy for us from last Sunday cause we're the team that wasted an entire off season screaming about "we got robbed" and wanting rules changed. It almost feels like karma for all the billboards, kicking and screaming and the way we over-reacted to the non-call last year. I have long said I was against the PI rule change cause I feared it would open a pandora's box of problems. The NFL don't even know what a catch is anymore and now they don't know what PI is anymore. Thank you Sean Payton for that. We should've took responsibility for blowing a 13-0 and 20-10 lead against the Rams, oh and throwing a pick in OT. But we didn't.

If they don't give up a 40+ yard bomb pass just a few plays before, we aren't even having to see the Vikings down at the red zone.

Refs aren't at fault that our 40 year old QB looked like a 40 year old QB and got outplayed by a man that everyone laughs at for not showing up in big games. This isn't the first time Brees was outplayed by an inferior QB in the playoffs. For some reason, this fan base loves to call Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady "chokers" when it happens to them, but never Brees and his playoff record pretty much mirrors Manning's at this point, he just don't have the historic 2015 Denver defense that carried him.

I'm so tired of fans blaming the refs though and coming up with inane conspiracy theories. It's why I spend most of my time over on a Patriots forum. Every team gets bad calls against them. We're the one fan base who has the ultimate persecution complex over it. Pats fans had some bad calls against them vs KC this year, but their fans moved on. Most of them talk about how they had zero depth at WR and how Brady is 42 and looked awful all year. That's a huge difference from us, where we deny that Brees has declined and ignore Payton being out-coached to just talk about refs.

Fact is; Goodell or refs aren't the reason we haven't won another SB. The reason why is the guy at head coach and GM. Refs and Goodell didn't field those historically bad defenses all through Brees' prime. Refs and Goodell didn't cause the Beastquake run, Minnesota miracle or Vernon Davis catch. Nor are they really responsible for Brees throwing an INT in last year's NFCCG vs the Rams.

We have to start accepting responsibility here. No one feels sorry for us and I can't even blame them. Seriously, go on other team's forums and look at what they say about the Saints and us as fans. We're known as the whiners and conspiracy theorists. None of them feel any sympathy for us anymore. I'm relieved it's over, cause I have zero doubt Green Bay would've embarrassed us this coming weekend, or if we even survive that, the Niners would be waiting to pummel us at Candlestick.

We definitely need to stop the whining. Could OPI been called? Sure. And in the still photo it looks bad, but in real time, it was not as clear. But also, do you also know what you see in that photo? The defender's head is not turned back to find the ball. I guarantee that in situations where the defender is not playing the ball, the OPI is called in less than 5% of those times. We gotta just accept we got beat and move on.

I'm guilty as charged. Based on how we were playing & what I saw from the Vikes vs GB on MNF ... I thought we would crush them, especially at home.

I re watched the Vikes ...

Brees was visibly upset after that fumble, and I saw the WR he was trying to go to. Guess who? #10 Trequan Smith, running the wrong route.

Tre should have been benched this year. He's been terrible.

Zimmer benches (healthy inactive) former 1st rd WR Treadwell in playoff rd #1 game. Sean continues to trot out 3rd rd DUD Trequan Smith - 0 catches.2 years in a row, no WR's. It took us almost 4 years to get a legit TE.

All eyes on Payton and what he does this off season as it pertains to the roster.

Credit to Mike Zimmer for setting up Payton by playin' possum...

In retrospect, Zim's body language, pre-game interviews, he had something, he had subtle confidence...

Tre'Quan was a reach as a draft pick and sometimes wonder if Payton forcing it wasn't to save face on a failed pick...

Payton to me has this complex about him that he’s got to find a rabbit in a hat once a year. Ala colston, jari Evans , donte Jackson etc. to show he’s a genius in the draft department . Buts it’s him that cleaned house one year on his scouting department for his trash picks

Look at the case of Don Shula - he had Dan F*cking Marino, in his prime, not the shell of a player Jimmy Johnson rec'd, and only made one Superbowl appearance and lost...

Yes he had the only undefeated season in NFL history - probably the greatest feat in NFL history...

Shula was given the proverbial blank check, stay-as-often-as-you like tenure; Shula never put in the same passion, energy and work as before and failed to build a team around Marino...

Dan Marino - probably the greatest passer in NFL if you were old enough to watch and appreciate football the past fifty years...

Cue response - JP, you're not in the locker room, uh you don't know what's going on - well, the results are on the field with mounting evidence that what Payton's doing/not doing/doing wrong isn't working...

And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out either that he doesn't face the same consequences, nor criticisms, that other NFL Head Coaches/GMs face...

Payton gets cute with his motivation gimmicks like his Competition St Sign, but where's the fire under his ass? It's not a healthy situation for the future of this franchise...

So far, Payton is just a one-hit wonder who had Drew Brees as QB, a coach's wet dream, and the most accomplished passer in NFL history...

My dad always believed that before Dan retired, he'd get back to the Bowl multiple times and win at least 2.

Just never happened.
