The Saints lost because...

Pick one

Re: The Saints lost because...

I can't pick one:
Kamara is garbage now let him walk in free agency if he wants more than 5m which he will.
The OL played terrible.
Lutz mr reliable missed a make-able fg.
2 drew turnovers.

I don’t disagree with any of that, but this was in the cards.

Re: The Saints lost because...

Team loss; everything on that list contributed.

The TE not set that took away the fake punt conversion.

Kimara not set that cost the Saints 10 seconds before OT

Re: The Saints lost because...

Brees and Lutz.

They've been great all season but Brees cracks in the playoffs and his 2 turnovers destroyed our momentum.

D played okay, they couldn't really get pressure on Cousins which was annoying and Marcus Williams was late on the big completion to Theilen. Which is the norm for him.

I'll add one, no decent #2 receiver.

Vikings outplayed us on the offensive and defensive lines for 3 quarters
Valliant comeback but that costly fumble on the 20 and driving with 4 minutes left was the game

Lattimore self destructing didn’t help

TE Jared Cook has been lights out...... sits on the sidelines until late 4th quarter?

Why?

Kamara was horrible looks like he is afraid to take the hit to defense so he stalls shuffles his feet goes nowhere but out of bounds. He’s not even attracting much attention from the defense because they can lay back and know that he will not take it to them like Hill does.

Why did it take the play calling 3 quarters to get in to the quick drop 2 sec max ball out passing game that has worked in the past ... when defenses are pressuring constant pressure and he can’t step up. I just don’t get it .... adapt and overcome.

All this slow developing run and passing scheme cost us today.

We should have kept pounding with Murray. Kamara was playing soft all season.

Re: The Saints lost because...

Sure Kamara didn’t have a standout season but to say he was the reason we lost is ridiculous. As for Brees, he was garbage. The OL was not stellar in particular Peat. Brees as a veteran should know to protect the ball and not to throw into tight double coverage to Ginn or any other receivers beside Thomas because Thomas will more likely fight to make it a incompletion if he had no chance to make the catch. The throw was unnecessary and the risk was not worth the reward. Instead of competing to win he was competing with the Hill big play. Brees drank the koolaid thinking he gotta carry this team in reality he just needed to manage by throwing short underneath passes which he couldn’t do. BYE BYE Brees and his groupies.

Re: The Saints lost because...

We likely win going away if we had Rankins and Davenport. Those two injuries were brutal.

Brees was awful.

That was a push off.

Vikings made fewer mistakes. They were the better team today.

Re: The Saints lost because...

Kind of a combination but I had to put it on Drew... bright lights come on and he disappears. Time to move on.

2nd for me... too many injuries on D. The line got zero pressure all game and gave up the run all day. We need Davenport and Rankins, those guys play and it’s a different game.

That TD they didn't get called back where clearly Cook doesn't cross the goal line

Now everyone wants Davenport back, naw keep Trey Hendrickson.

Davenport is much better against the run than Hendrickson. The combo was working great.

Re: The Saints lost because...

Brees was indecisive all day

OL was garbage

Receivers created zero separation

Kamara has lost his magic

FG miss was costly

Lattimore brain farted

Bright spots:
Davis
T. Hill
J. Jenkins

XLIV CHAMPS

I’ll say this after playing DB all the way through high school. That was clearly a push off and when you are 6’ getting pushed by a 6’6 TE an arms length is a lot of space is created and it also creates a lot of leverage to high point a ball. It’s like making a triangle of space. I am all for letting them play but I hate that a play like that ends a game and for the league to say that it’s not even worth a review.

I don't know who that team was today. It wasn't the same team we saw all season. Maybe they looked past the Vikings, like we did against the Falcons. Sometimes ego is your Achilles heel.

Why wouldn't you want Davenport back? He's a vicious run stopper and is above average setting the edge.

Trey is no where near as athletic as MD here. It showed today.

Obviously we spent a lot of time reading and watching our own propaganda before this game. Wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last.

Re: The Saints lost because...

I have rescind my reason for this lost because I‘ve just seen the replay of the final play and it was a obvious opi so reason for the lost is because of the official who in position to see the arm extended and the sudden stop of p.j William.

This still don’t change my views on Brees. No way should the saints been in that position

Mr.Riaton 01-05-2020 06:25 PM

Re: The Saints lost because...

This loss is solely on lack of protection for Brees, hands down. Yes he's getting older, but he has proved many times this year he still has it. He was literally under pressure for at least 3/4 of the damn game. The reason the offense seemed to "wake up" in the 4th was the protection improved. They knew the middle of our line was the weak link, exploited it ,and it worked. Fix the o line first in the offseason, then wr and we're back in the playoffs again

Who said I didn't want him? If that was directed for me specifically. I've been campaigning for Davenport all season....Since he went down the dline has played average at best

Wasn't directed at YOU personally Rell.

Just various posters dumping on Davenport throughout the season. And to your point, when healthy, he's been a beast.

I'm not even mad. More disappointed because Minnesota came in a whipped our ass. Straight up.

Two years ago I was destroyed by the play.
Last year I was infuriated by the no call.
This year however... We just got rolled. And we couldn't do enough to come back.

Maybe the Antonio Brown curse is legit. Even a workout was too much.

Raiders - on playoff bubble and came up short
Steelers - same
Patriots - bounced in first round at home
Saints - same

Re: The Saints lost because...

I want to pick four of those choices.

Ok.
Real.
Saints win with and lose with Brees.
He IS THAT good when he is on and when he is off, the whole thing falls apart.
What to do with a qb that cost a fortune and is 40?
If that qb is Brees, you keep him and let him retire from your team.
Saints have other weak spots to strengthen.

My question, comment.
Next year, if Brees is off, send in Bridgewater.
Hindsight now. Just talk.
Because Brees was off today, Hill was hot, Bridgewater was waiting in the wings, maybe they should have been sent in.

Like I said , hindsight.

Ginn, off. Kamarea has an injury and never got back like he was.

SB, Saints would not have been there.
SanFran is going all the way winning it.

Saints probably would have been knocked out by GreenBay.
If not, definitely by the 49ers.
I would have liked, really thought Saints would have won today.
Vikings are going to get crushed by GreenBay.

Respectfully, Vikings found our Achilles heel and they beat it like a drum for 3 quarters. Just like Atlanta did. We still had no answer until it was too late.

Re: The Saints lost because...

Pressure up the middle has always given Brees trouble. This is nothing new. Every team knows it. Minnesota had the D-line to succeed doing it.

Its why we have always valued interior linemen highly. Our interior line just got beat today, which is one of the reasons Brees looked so awful.

I'm positive we'll see big money or a high draft pick on OG in the offseason.

Re: The Saints lost because...

This was an all around loss and you should be able to pick multiple options.

I have no problem with the refs from today. I don't care about a non-call at the end of the game after giving up a 40+ yard bomb pass to set them up first and goal. When Cousins dropped back and threw that bomb, I thought to myself - yep, here it is. That one big play in our playoff losses we are known for.

Brees' fumble in the red zone with 5 minutes to go was the dagger to this game. I swear by it that it was a miracle we even got to OT after that.

Minnesota should've blew us out if it weren't for them running such a conservative run-heavy game plan.
