Re: The Saints lost because...
No they did not.
I'm glad that wasn't called. Like last year's non-call, this is yet another shiny object waved in front of the eyes of fans who don't want to look at the bigger picture and realize Payton coached a bad game, and Brees played like trash. We as fans have become one of the whiniest fan bases in all of American sports. You guys should seriously go check out other NFL teams' forums and see what they think about us. Few fans have any sympathy for us from last Sunday cause we're the team that wasted an entire off season screaming about "we got robbed" and wanting rules changed. It almost feels like karma for all the billboards, kicking and screaming and the way we over-reacted to the non-call last year. I have long said I was against the PI rule change cause I feared it would open a pandora's box of problems. The NFL don't even know what a catch is anymore and now they don't know what PI is anymore. Thank you Sean Payton for that. We should've took responsibility for blowing a 13-0 and 20-10 lead against the Rams, oh and throwing a pick in OT. But we didn't. If they don't give up a 40+ yard bomb pass just a few plays before, we aren't even having to see the Vikings down at the red zone. Refs aren't at fault that our 40 year old QB looked like a 40 year old QB and got outplayed by a man that everyone laughs at for not showing up in big games. This isn't the first time Brees was outplayed by an inferior QB in the playoffs. For some reason, this fan base loves to call Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady "chokers" when it happens to them, but never Brees and his playoff record pretty much mirrors Manning's at this point, he just don't have the historic 2015 Denver defense that carried him. I'm so tired of fans blaming the refs though and coming up with inane conspiracy theories. It's why I spend most of my time over on a Patriots forum. Every team gets bad calls against them. We're the one fan base who has the ultimate persecution complex over it. Pats fans had some bad calls against them vs KC this year, but their fans moved on. Most of them talk about how they had zero depth at WR and how Brady is 42 and looked awful all year. That's a huge difference from us, where we deny that Brees has declined and ignore Payton being out-coached to just talk about refs. Fact is; Goodell or refs aren't the reason we haven't won another SB. The reason why is the guy at head coach and GM. Refs and Goodell didn't field those historically bad defenses all through Brees' prime. Refs and Goodell didn't cause the Beastquake run, Minnesota miracle or Vernon Davis catch. Nor are they really responsible for Brees throwing an INT in last year's NFCCG vs the Rams. We have to start accepting responsibility here. No one feels sorry for us and I can't even blame them. Seriously, go on other team's forums and look at what they say about the Saints and us as fans. We're known as the whiners and conspiracy theorists. None of them feel any sympathy for us anymore. I'm relieved it's over, cause I have zero doubt Green Bay would've embarrassed us this coming weekend, or if we even survive that, the Niners would be waiting to pummel us at Candlestick. |

Re: The Saints lost because...
We definitely need to stop the whining. Could OPI been called? Sure. And in the still photo it looks bad, but in real time, it was not as clear. But also, do you also know what you see in that photo? The defender's head is not turned back to find the ball. I guarantee that in situations where the defender is not playing the ball, the OPI is called in less than 5% of those times. We gotta just accept we got beat and move on.

Re: The Saints lost because...
I'm guilty as charged. Based on how we were playing & what I saw from the Vikes vs GB on MNF ... I thought we would crush them, especially at home.
