Moving the chains and giving the defense a chance to rest is what wins ballgames. Not 2 plays and a 50 yard bomb and a tired defense back on the field.
Quite a few deep balls once he was settled into the offense... go watch his highlights from the Tampa game.

This is my point. Even without the deep ball Brees can still be really good to great with intermediate routes. If Payton want upgrade at those particular positions on the O it want matter if Brees stays or not. If he does and can actually stick to running the ball we'll be hard to control on the O side. Most people on here agree about Brees losing the deep ball. But he can still be one of the best game managers in the game if Payton gives up his quick strike thinking. If not Brees needs to really think about his future in a Saints uniform.

Sean Payton and the brain trust MUST surround the aforementioned QB with better options at wide receiver. Carr, Jordan Humphries, Kirkwood, Ginn, Tre Smith (year 3 and he hasn't progressed) ain't those dudes. 2020 could be an historic WR draft. We may get TWO! And if so we cut bait with one of the others.

I want Brees back if The N.O.Saints still play in the N.O Superdome and if SeanP and his staff are still here.
Just let him retire here.
In the meantime, start drafting and trading.

This is a subject just no one here wants to talk about.
Time is coming up for the Saints , entire team, and coaching staff to change. Leave. Saints regroup.

No one wants these good times to end.
It has been really exciting.
The 10 years,overall, of SP and his staff .
Good times . Unbelievable times no one ever thought would for all the awful. When it was awful, we still thought was good. People made their own fun.
Saints won a game. One game in 1980 or 1981. Hey, at least they won a game. We were happy.

Sometimes we have knee jerk ideas that we should hear read back to ourselves in a different wording.

We have people that want to get rid of statistically the most accurate passer in the league for 0.02% of his throws.

Assuming a best possible case scenario I used Dak Prescott as he has the most 40+ yard passes at 16 which is 0.02% of his passes.

Less than 1 pass per game is why we want to replace our QB... let that sink in.

They want to get rid of a QB for an interception, the same QB that has the best TD/Int ratio for the season.

It's not the 40 yard bombs that we need, it's efficiency for passes that are 20+ yards out.

You can see through the charts here https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/charts/...rees/BRE229498 that Drew really struggled this year to get the ball down the field. I wish they broke it down to passes of 15+ yards, because if you look at the game charts you can see once he hits the 15+ yard mark it goes to ****.

In the 2019 total chart it's easy to see the deficiency, and although it shows some success throwing to the right and deep, he only had a few passes thrown that way all year (numbers are skewed).
