USA Today/Saints Wire: 5 pending free agents the Saints should let walk in 2020 offseason

Letting Onyemata and Klein go would be terrible mistakes; Klein I'd restructure, but he's still playing great football; Onyemata is available and actually graded better than Rankins...
Not sure what Sigler is thinking there... |

I'm on the fence with Klein. Collectively, we're too slow as a unit. Saints must get faster at linebacker. Outside of Demario, we have no other assassins. Did you see how the Niners LB (s) shut that nonsense down on those edges? Dalvin Cook had no where to run.
Peat, Ginn Jr., Carr ... Bye. |

I forgot Carr was on the roster. That tells me letting him walk is a no brainer.

I’m agree about Klein and Onyemata. We have too many health issues at LB to let Klein go. I have zero faith that Anzalone can stay healthy a full season. We were near elite early in the year when we had enough healthy personnel to rotate players like Onyemata.
I feel a breakout year for him next year. We really got screwed royally by injuries this year. Peat, Ginn, and Carr can try and avoid the door on the way out. |

We did however what happened to the Niners? 49ers have 16 guys on IR, two more than us & yet they are playing for a trip to the SB on next Sunday. Key of the game is having solid depth. Saints need to drop the dead weight and add guys that can play at a high level when injuries start to mount. |

But, irregardless, remaining guys have to overcome them; am a little p/o'd though they took a key guy (Cook) out of the game but their guys got a pass... Falling back to being soft? again? |

At the start of 2019, we were saying that we just needed to be "middle of the road" on D. Well we finished #11 on defense and the offense craps the bed. I guess next season we'll need to finish top 5 on D to get it done. I've run out of excuses for the Saints not being able to close. |
Re: USA Today/Saints Wire: 5 pending free agents the Saints should let walk in 2020 offseason
At the end of the day, this guy doesn't know more about cuts than you or me. Lose Carr and Ginn? That's not exactly cutting edge Pulitzer worthy insight.
The FO will see what the market is and go from there. David O seems like a priority, and I'd take Peat and Klein at a reasonable rate. We'll probably lose Teddy, and if someone throws 7-8 million at Peat the we might get that elusive comp pick. |

talent is there, but it seems Dennis Allen has a habit of having a defense that goes to sleep at times. Just to make a point, in 3 playoff losses over last 3 years, we have allowed average to below average offenses score well above what they normally do. Vikings scoring 26 should never happen, 49ers kept them at 10. Rams scored 26, Patriots kept them to 3 in the SB, Rams offense went bad after Chicago, they havent been much better off this year hence why they missed the playoffs. Vikings in 2017 scored 25+ (was it 29?) Eagles the next week kept them I think to 7. bottom line is, we dont have a defense in the playoffs and its concerning. |
