The future is what I’m getting at, considering the growing age of the NFL’s fanbase, the growing specter of refs fixing games, the growing female support (but also the domestic violence problem), the anthem issues, etc etc, it’s not completely out of the question that the NFL could be vulnerable.

All that being said, I don’t know the motivations of the XFL, so I can’t say for certain what the really intend other than a spring league for castoffs to get more exposure and possibly sign with an NFL team in the future.

It is simply true, and if NFL fans watch XFL after the NFL season is over then those fans are not diverted.

A child and a parent do compete, they both play in the same financial space. Some times mom gets a purse before dad gets an xbox game or a child gets a new toy.

So you are making a distinction without as difference. I am correct now but things could change? If things change then the reason they are not competing changes or goes away. No where in my post did I say "they will never compete".

In regards to the NFL market, watching XFL is no different than watching spring MLB which is actually in the same space as XFL

When or if the XFL moves its season to Sep-Jan or acquires enough cash to lure NFL players out of the NFL we can certainly revisit. I can see how some lower paid NFL players (kickers possibly) might entertain Playing NFL and XFL which proves they are not in competition or conflict as a person could do both. (baring contract language preventing that from happening):bng:

I misunderstood your point, I thought you were insinuating a “never” situation.

My pipe dream is getting back at Goodell and I’m jealously guarding my XFL messiah lol

I am the one insinuating a "never" situation because I feel it is financially impossible for the XFL ever build enough capital to approach the level required to attempt to compete. The NFL ownership is made up of 32 individuals (more or less with Green Bay) that each have more money than the single owner of the entire XFL. When the AFL challenged the NFL some 60 years ago the difference in financial stability was not that great. It was structured in relatively the same manner. To a lessor degree, the same could be said for the USFL, but the difference was great enough that it gave the NFL an edge that the USFL could not overcome. Today the NFL is so ingrained in every way that any hope to compete directly is impossible. The XFL's only chance at survival is to co-exist live off the scraps left by the NFL.

The XFL looks like it may take a hit soon as I just heard a report that the NFL is trying to bring Dean Blandino back into the fold. Al Riveron has botched officiating since Blandino's departure. The pass interference rule was a disaster in the way it was handled. Talk is that bringing Blandino back could save the rule.

He has been very vocal about how the replays have been ruled on the PI calls. Riveron turned it into a farce.

I'm not sure how good NY's defense is however I do know first hand Dallas (Renegades) & Landry Jones is a pick 6 waiting to happen.

Cam should be plenty busy breaking down bad throws all day from him.

Jones is one of the "premier" QB's getting paid the top end salary of $495K. The games are entertaining, but the viewer just needs to understand the quality cannot match either the NFL or the CFL at a fraction of the compensation.
