Re: Drew Is Coming Back For The 2020 Season

I think you have to go all in this season.

Trade for Darius Slay and lockdown the other side of Latt.
Trade up for a receiver in the draft if necessary.

Not crazy about how much we are going to end up paying Brees and how much it'll cost against the cap, but if they are serious about this thing, then they need to make a serious point to address the weaknesses that have stopped our playoff run 3 years in a row.

he won’t be cheap but that’s the price of being competitive which is something I’ll take every season. Who really is out there that would of given the team a better chance to win now besides him?

Slay will be extremely costly + Lattimore is rapidly coming due for a large payday.

May as well attempt to work out a deal to keep Jack Rabbit for 2020. He rolled out of his bed for 2 weeks in NO and balled at #2 CB a high level and in the playoffs. Diggs was completely shut down.

Yeah good points to be honest, just thinking if this is the last year of Brees then we cant succumb to the same mistakes of years past.

Payton refused to Address WR high because it was too costly, instead going into the season with a 79 year old Ted Ginn, a bunch of UDFA's that never saw the field and Trequan Smith.

As to committing to one more season, that isn't known at this time. True, his last few contracts have been multiyear with everything after year one voided. That is most likely going to be the case again, but until the contract is finalized there's no way of being absolutely sure of how many seasons Brees has indeed agreed.

Guido,

You were right. Looks like I owe you an apology [emoji23]

Yea I get it. One more pasty season.
Don’t worry, one day we will have a Qb like TB, RG3, or Jameis Winston. Doesn’t matter if they can actually play right.

Gives us our best chance to win. Good enough for me.

2020 season .. all eyes on the coaching staff.

Passing the ball 40+ times with an aging QB is a recipe for an L.

More balance, wearing defenses out late with the run game will become paramount and it helps your defense stay fresh.

Free Agency (G, WR) and the upcoming draft will be key.

I like the part of the new deal that gives him All Rights to the City of New Orleans and 83,000 new Jimmy John's locations.

“This was always going to get done,” Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said. “Can you imagine what this city would do to me if we didn’t resign him? You think we want another Billy Joe Hobert, Billy Joe Tolliver, Wade Wilson, Jim Everett, Heath Shuler or Danny Wuerffel under center? That scares the **** out of me. Literally. I just crapped on myself. Excuse me.”
