One thing that is definitely lost on many people is that Brees was still one of the best performing quarterbacks in the league...

It came down to that horrible interception in the playoffs vs the Vikings where he was trying to keep the momentum we'd had with Taysom Hill trucking the Vikings...

Not using Latavius Murray more, pulling Taysom out when he was in BeastMode, Drew didn't make those calls...

That interception that Brees threw I will always think he was trying to match Hill's deep throw to show he still has it. Hill had 1 on 1 coverage on his throw while Brees threw into double coverage. That was a boneheaded throw for a seasoned qb. trying to create something that wasn't there. Totally agree on using Murray and pulling Hill, that's on Payton.

I'd like to think that was Brees testing himself, but he does it every year. Always seems to happen in the playoffs too, throws a dumb ill-advised pass.

He did it quite a few times the past season, he was just lucky that most of them were dropped by the DB's.

Not only that he had the best completion % and TD% of his entire career.

I know it was a short season for him and those stats don’t tell the whole story but it’s pretty impressive none the less.
