We are both wrong. The article you posted here says the "opt out date" is August 4th.

"Aug. 16: All teams must cut their rosters down to 80 players, the day before padded practices begin. The August 30th date was obviously moved up from what I read earlier. That said, as the article also states, there are players that still have no shot even prior to camp starting.

Actually it is 88 players currently because both of the veteran FA TEs, Jason Vander Laan and Cole Wick, took the Wuhan Opt-out cash money...

Yup. That's what most will be. Players that knew they had little chance of making the cut anyway. Free money. The Saints now only have eight players they need to cut in three weeks. Chances are they reach that through attrition.
