CAMP CONFIDENTIAL
CAMP CONFIDENTIAL
Saturday, August 06, 2005 Both practices were held indoors Attendance: 150 In the spotlight: Left cornerback. Depth chart No. player | Ht. | Wt. | Exp. 34 Mike McKenzie | 6-0 | 194 | 7 21 Jason Craft | 5-10 | 187 | 7 28 Jimmy Williams | 5-11 | 190 | 5 23 Fred Booker | 5-9 | 199 | 1 33 Matt Clark | 5-8 | 180 | R McKenzie is playing at an extremely high level and makes at least one big play every practice. He appears primed for a big season. If McKenzie gets hurt, the Saints won't drop off much with Craft. He's the nickel back and can be a spot starter. Williams has had a quiet camp, but he will likely earn a roster spot if the Saints keep five corners. Booker is a solid player with the talent to play in the NFL. Clark has a chance to make the practice squad. GET TO KNOW: L.P. LADOUCEUR Position: LS-DE Height/weight: 6-4, 257 Experience: Rookie Age: 24 College: California Hometown: Montreal, Quebec Did you know: LaDouceur speaks fluent French. . . . Started athletic career as a hockey player, then moved to football as a junior in high school. . . . Started snapping for the varsity football team at Notre Dame High School in Montreal and continued at John Abbott College, a prep school. . . . Pac-10 honorable mention All-Academic selection in 2004. . . . Full name is Louis-Phillippe. . . . Is also working as reserve defensive end. WHO'S HOT: Special teams ace and erstwhile comedian Fred McAfee earned a stirring round of applause for his midfield re-enactment of a play involving Montrae Holland and teammates during calisthenics before the morning workout. WHO'S NOT: Defensive tackle Johnathan Sullivan has tailed off after a solid start. While still in better shape, Sullivan has not been able to ascend from his spot with the third team. Under the supervision of trainer Scottie Patton, he spent extra time on the exercise bike Friday. PLAYS OF THE DAY: Aaron Brooks showed off his skills during the two-minute drill Friday when he avoided a blitz from Craft and delivered a quick strike to Ernie Conwell in the left flat for a big gain. A few plays later, he completed the drive with a bullet to Az-Zahir Hakim, who beat Fakhir Brown on a post route for a 15-yard touchdown. INJURY REPORT Pos. | Player | Injury TE | Shad Meier | torn knee meniscus (out) OL | Spencer Folau | sore shoulder (out) LB | Roger Knight | sore right knee (out) LB | Courtney Watson | strained left quad (out) QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I'll be hot against Carolina at 12 o'clock. Get out your, 'Who's hot Who's not' list when we play the Panthers in another month or two." -- WR Joe Horn on being listed as "Not Hot" in Wednesday's editions of The Times-Picayune. http://www.nola.com/saints/t-p/index...0900162390.xml |
