With Bell, it could have been that it wasn't a good "fit". Vonn is a solid player but very limited in coverage and teams capitalized on that. Malcolm and Gardner-Johnson are guys who can cover with little help. Hopefully, that will allow Marcus to roam and make more plays. Maybe in the eyes of coaches, having Jenkins gives the Saints the better chance to get back to where we want to be. |

Read beyond the headline people... Jenkins is 19M guaranteed.
According to PFF, Jenkins graded slightly above Bell last season. Jenkins doesn't make the mistakes Bell does. We got AT LEAST the same level of production for LESS money. That's good business. And now we can spend on Jenkins and more impact FAs. |

Jenkins had 1 good year here, his rookie year. We'll see what we get the bone headed Jenkins or the finally woke up Jenkins? I would have signed Bell.

Re: Saints closing in on signing S Malcolm Jenkins
Kinda scary when we bring back DBs after they have solid years somewhere after leaving here. Then we get the old, worm out guy that gets injured or is too slow.
Hope this works out. I really do, but I'm not holding my breath. |

4 yr 32 million? Rather expensive for a man on the decline. I would rather have Bell back.

Re: Saints closing in on signing S Malcolm Jenkins
Chauncey Gardner Johnson earned a starting spot for next season in my opinion. Jenkins is on the backend of his career, but he can be a good mentor to the young guys, and still has something to give on the field, hopefully. We're still pretty strong at safety.
I'm more worried about our linebacker corps. Other than DD, we are WEAK AF. |
