Awesome! I have some buddies that aren't Saints fans that watched a couple games with me last year that were asking about Hill because they enjoyed watching him play so much. I told them that he probably wasn't going to be used the same way this year because he'd probably be the #2.

They were bummed out. And so was I. The guy is making people fans of the Saints that weren't fans of the Saints.

So this is great news! I love watching him play all over the place!

His role did not change much when Teddy took over.
Should he still be in for all of the ST packages? Probably not.

Not all packages but definitely when a spark is needed. He provides that much
needed spark when the team is struggling. See the blocked punts against Tampa, Falcons and also a kickoff return. The man is an athlete. Might not be a starting QB but he is an athlete and should be played wherever is most beneficial to the team.

Actually, his role changed quite a bit over that stretch.

He was only targeted three times over the five games with Teddy at QB. He averaged close to two targets per game in the other games.

He averaged two runs per game with Teddy.

The greatest difference was on special teams.

In the five games with Teddy (7, 4, 5, 6, 9 ST snaps).

In the other eleven games (23, 23, 19, 24, 19, 23, 25, 31, 17, 29, 23).

Regardless of what Payton says, I would be shocked if his role wasn't greatly diminished if he was truly the #2 QB. There had better be at least a #2b on game day.

Well, one explanation on the lower targets might be that we threw more with Brees on the field than Teddy, and 2 carries is right around what he averaged. I agree with you that we won't see him as much, especially in the slot or at TE or FB.
He adds a dimension on punts (both sides) but he doesn't need to be on either KO team, especially with 10 games inside domes where returns are a rarity

Until I see Taysom taken off special team duty, I don't think he's the #2 QB.

Expect to see a vet QB signed at some point.
