Sean Payton: I’m a dummy, I don’t know if this is Drew Brees’ last year

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Does anybody else remember Drew Brees adamantly stating that he would never let his back up see the field? He even wanted to play in garbage time. Some of that is chasing the records possibly but he never wanted to ...

Does anybody else remember Drew Brees adamantly stating that he would never let his back up see the field? He even wanted to play in garbage time. Some of that is chasing the records possibly but he never wanted to come out of a game. Didn't he break his own record for consecutive starts?

It's funny how time gives us a different outlook as we get older. Maybe Drew realizes that he can't carry the team on his shoulders alone anymore and is a team player willing to do whatever it takes to win. Personally, I'm proud of him for sharing snaps with Taysom Hill and keeping the game more complex for the defense.

I hear that Brittany sleeps in Taysom Hill pajamas....she probably stole them from Drew.

The funny thing is, NFL Network is streaming games from years ago and you can see the difference in Brees' game. The way he navigates and steps up in the pocket was pretty incredible to watch, he had zip on his passes and could throw deep.

Not bashing Brees, just being a realist.

Theres a reason his Interception numbers are down, because he doesnt throw deep anymore. When he tries to throw deep, it gets picked - 2018 playoffs vs eagles, 2019 playoffs vs Vikings.

TH adds something to the field that's needed, because Brees isnt the player he once was. Defenses dont respect our deep passes, because we cant make them.
He's a stud and one of the best ever. What he has done with his height is literally amazing. I love the guy and we dont sniff a Lombardi without him. Absolutely best player we have ever had. Still great, but he is getting older.

That throw, if I'm being honest, seemed to be more about matching the big play from TH earlier.

Really hoping sanders has a huge impact for us this year
