Apples deal with the raiders falls through

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; With this deal failing through he make come cheap. Sure, he had some bad days but coming off the bench should help him regain some confidence and want. I say why not? Not like we have a ton in place ...

The Saints didn't want him and neither did the Raiders.... I am curious how that equates to regaining confidence?

I would take him back in a second. Younger than Jenkins with more of an upside. We know he can play and would be very solid depth.

He had plenty confidence. He was “on the bench” due to injury.

Take him back in a second? Why? Eli became a liability on the back end.

Post Bears game, Apple graded out at 64, which is ranked 79th at his position. Routinely flame broiled in coverage & down the stretch. Say what you want about Janoris but he stopped a lot of the bleeding at CB spot #2 on the fly.

Eli "had" confidence early in the season but that fizzled rather quickly. He was on the bench because he was getting beat … consistently.

I hope CB is a priority in the upcoming draft.

Loomis, please don't make it happen.

I'd agree with most of this, but if we can get him back at a discount? Hell Yeah, I'd do that deal in a second...

Having that kind of continuity and competition in the secondary would be tremendous; Eli was playing great until the Bears game; his confidence issues were tied to that injury...

He picked up a lot of bad habits because of poor coaching in New York, but Apple had a good trajectory as a reclamation project, until injury; I'd stay the course and keep working with him...

But if we can trade back from 24 into Round 2 early, and unless Epenesa is still there, I'd go for that rookie CB2 contract, and I am looking for either Dantzler or Diggs, maybe even Hall...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I'd take him. He is nothing special but for the right price why not. With a good DL he can play semi-good. He needs the line though. Without that forget it. He can't cover very long without it.

We've not finished a season with our starting defensive line intact in over five years now...

Yeah I dont believe that for a second, Jenkins completely shut down Stefon Diggs in the playoff game. After the chicago game, Eli was getting worked every single game.

Janoris is our starter. Draft for the future and move on.

Exactly what I said. Take the pressure off of him by letting him come off the bench. He has good experience and has shown flashes. If he comes cheap why not?
