Something that needs to be taken into consideration on Peat's conditioning coming into the 2018 season. Do not forget that he suffered a broken leg and a high ankle sprain in the playoff game earlier that year. That basically means no cardio training during the off-season. Then the broken arm and hand on two fluke plays affected his abilities during the 2019-2020 postseason.

He was actually quite good when healthy. It is impossible to defend against broken bones in the trenches.

The guy that I thought I got to much credit was Warford, usually when you need short yardage you go strong-side and move people, we had more success off-tackle than inside trap...

Warford was the kind of signing I hate, a consolation pick where we spent money set aside on a guy who showed all the signs of coasting, mailing it in once he got the Big Mo'...

I think this could be Warford's last season in New Orleans. He hasn't been a complete liability in pass protection but there were a couple of games where I thought he'd get our QB killed. Hopefully we target another GUARD in the upcoming draft. There is a Carl Nicks out there. Gotta get stronger, nastier. Post season is a completely different animal.

Solid depth is the name of the game.

Better than most, not as good as some.

Injury history concerns me as does lack of depth.

FWIW, I thought in a "back up" role, Nick Easton performed well when Peat was out due to injury. He rarely holds, no false starts and minimum pressure on #9 in a relief role.

Yeah but the rams game and Falcons game preceded the Vikings contest which was a carbon copy.

I hope you're right, but with that many I juries what are we signing him for? Anzalone was known as j jury prone coming out of college and people here were like awww that this and it was that. He's been hurt every season.

I honestly cant remember if that was a concern for Rankins but he cant stay healthy either.

I agree you cant fault guys for being injured, but you dont keep signing dudes that are constantly Injured, in my humble opinion.

Look, not one dude on this board doesnt hope he balls out. And nothing we can do other than that since he is signed, but guys here have a right to be apprehensive and think it wont work. And the worst question is what do we do when it doesnt?

IMO Ryan Ramz will become the next Willie Roaf.

I would be far more concerned if Peat's injuries were soft tissue related. The leg resulted from being rolled up on. That can happen to any lineman at any time. The hand was broken when crushed between two helmets. Freak occurrence. The forearm was also a helmet impact. He could go ten years without having any of those circumstances arise again. Anzalone and Armstead have been experiencing more troubling types of injuries.

I hope the Saints didn't overrate Peat and sign him to that deal because he somehow made the pro bowl.
