I watched some tape on OL Mekhi Becton … he's nasty. A dawg.

What are the chances he slips to us @ #24? Kind of like how Ramz fell to us. I'd like that pick but I'm dreaming right?

Would have to trade Armstead almost immediately...

And then of course, that opens up money to extend Kamara...

...then again, you could let him walk and possibly pick up a compensatory 3rd round pick in 2022...

IDK, Murray and Queen scare me in the 1st round. I'd rather go pass rusher but I understand the concern at LB not named Demario + we still have an open spot after AJ Klein signed elsewhere.

And pass on safety Delpit. He's not durable and isn't the best at tackling. We already have one of those who plays free safety.

The only guy I'd want in the first from LSU is Jefferson. He's already a polished route runner and will transition well to the NFL.

I have no idea how to post links but I saw a CBS Sports mock have us drafting Bowden J.R for our 3rd round pick. I said a few months ago I would jump all over him for a 3rd or below. People keep comparing him to Hill but that's way off because his throwing mechanics are terrible but in the open field dude is the real deal.

Check out Memphis' Antonio Gibson...

Sean Payton has emphasized that this is a "rich WR draft" … which probably means we aren't selecting one at #24.

IMO that will be a "safe" (lineman) pick & we probably won't "reach" for a specific player. I still believe a stud LB will fall to the mid rounds.

Another stud lineman (see Ramz) would be great as well. Gotta shore up the O line once the playoffs start.

I like the idea of an o lineman with strength to start day one at #24.

OR

Someone who can affect the passer immediately! As in, our division QBs wince when the pick is announced.

Major, think you said you were not in GNO-area, but there's been talk on the local talk shows and radio shows (suspect Mike Detillier behind it) that we may trade a lineman...

Warford is the target of many of the rumours now...

Whoa really? Sorry, I know that was addressed to Major but you piqued my interest. Cesar Ruiz at RG would be fantastic.

No need to apologize, conversation is everyone, Brother!

No one was named as the replacement - only that the draft is nearly as deep on the offensive line as it is at WR...

Smash has shared this video, I timed the link so it starts where Detillier esplains his thinking...

Going after Lemieux in the draft.

Well, it looks like Peat is here for awhile.(sigh) Warford is in his last year of his contract and that is the right time to trade players while other teams value their current worth. I would not be happy with trading him and plugging in the replacements that we already have in house. We need to draft a stud this year to insure there is no drop-off on the O-line. I want someone with a nasty streak who will move from OT to OG and will be the back up tackle.

There seems to be plenty of talented players who are not considered NFL level tackles that we might get in the early mid rounds like Carl Nicks in the fourth. You jut have to have the scouting and our scouting department rocks!

I think ULL’s Robert Hunt might be just the guy you’re looking for.

There's a lot, yes a lot, of up front guranteed money for Peat and it's likely reward for playing injured with some painful limitations - and the contract also serves a msg for the troops...

On second review, some analysts including Underhill noted that nearly all the back-end of the contract is voidable, so there's relief & a contract that won't scare off potential trade suitors...

IF he falls that far, it'll be because decision makers see that while he has some amazing dancing bear moments, he's often overweight, not dominating for a guy his size...

And then there's that failed drug test at the combine, so he's got one strike right off the bat and is in the NFL program...

Actually, only $23 million of the $55 million is fully guaranteed up front. The other $10.85 million (2022 base salary) is conditionally guaranteed the third day of the 2021 league season.

Does this mean that he is tradeable with that contract? If he could keep his weight down, report in shape, and somehow stay healthy we could trade him later when he falls back to Peat being on his seat again! :bang:

If so he'll be worth every penny of the contract. That is actually fairly cheap given the flashes he has shown of what he can do.

Guido I really trust your opinions on players. Still, my eyes have never looked at Peat once since he came into camp fat and out of shape and thought "good job"....it's always more like "DAMN!"

I realize that he's been hurt consistently and played through pain. On the other hand, I have seen my mother fight through pain and I don't want her playing football just because she deals well with pain. She's a tough cookie too!

Don't trust my opinion. Trust those that know FAR more than any of us. Whether some of us believe it or not. Just saying. Nobody is right 100% of the time, but I'll put my trust in those that have ALL of the information at hand every time.

I'd like to see us trade down if who we really want isn't there. It's a deep second round and it would be nice to pick up a 3rd if we can. I don't believe there's much of a talent gap there towards the bottom of the first all the way to the mid 2nd round.

Going to go left field with my first pick here and go with J.K. Dobbins. I believe he can be a star player and serves as an insurance policy for Kamara.

K Major 04-21-2020 09:58 AM

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

Dobbins played his college ball where?

Yeah, there is a good chance that he's on the Saints draft board.

There seems to be a late surge in the draft stock of Texas Tech LB Jordyn Brooks. I’ve seen some reports here and there that some teams have him higher than Patrick Queen.

Quick note - his skill set has been compared to a guy we recently lost in Free Agency.

Anyone thinking we take a QB early to mid round?

I've heard Jordan Love and Jalen Hurts get mentioned, have to think we need to invest this year. Apparently Brees said he was pushing towards retirement before deciding to come back.

From Tony Pauline’s mock...

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/f...-tony-pauline/

24. New Orleans Saints – Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

I think the pick could be Justin Jefferson, but sources close to the team tell me the Saints are leaning towards Murray as they feel they will get several good receivers later on. I continue to hear that if Love slips to the Saints, he will be the pick.

Murray has been a tremendous linebacker the past two years for Oklahoma and is the type of defender teams desire at the position these days. He plays with great speed and violence and covers a tremendous amount of area on the field. Murray must improve his play against the pass, but he comes with upside and offers scheme versatility.
