Okay, got the memo from the Black & Gold High Council - let's see those mocks from those of us who just know our publicly posted mocks will influence our beloved franchise...

Want to share using online mock draft engines?

Try the original mock draft engine:

Fanspeak.com On The Clock Simulator

Or with trades:

Fanspeak.com On The Clock Simulator Premium

This one is pretty good:

Draft Network Mock Draft Machine

And it has a premium machine as well, also has an annual subscription...

Over the years I’ve realized that I have absolutely no idea what the Saints are going to do in the draft. This is mostly because we don’t draft BPA or draft for need. We have our “cloud” of players that we like for each pick and if it looks like those players won’t make it to our pick we trade up.

Agree. I have no idea either. CJ is who I drafted in a mock.

Sometime back I got called out here because I list as many as five players for each draft slot - I still do this; and now I'll share the background...

There are several reasons why many teams have evolved to doing this...

First and foremost, if you like each of those players in your target range, or cloud, you won't be in a panic if your priority is scooped up in front of you...

It's the same as having a pre-snap read and being able to go in a number of directions when the bullets are live; only instead of one opponent in a game, you're facing 32 in a draft...

Second, you keep opponents from figuring out what you really plan to do come draft time as you've interviewed a no. of targets...

Example, division opponents will work trades with other teams that have same needs as their opponents to keep players out of their division (Chiefs, Raiders 70s)...

Third benefit is that you have scouted players intensely to the point that if you have to face them, you already have data, film with which to work...

Also, should a player become a free agent, you already have the scouting to acquire that player we really liked for the Draft, but was too prohibitive a sacrifice to make it happen...

Anyways, years ago, took an elective at Tulane in Sports Management and this is where learned some of this background in the draft process...

I’m starting to like the idea of taking Michigan center Cesar Ruiz and playing him at RG. Similar to how we took Ramczyk when Armstead and Strief were entrenched as the starters.
