Probably also means if there is no 2020 season Drew is done.

A key part of this: “In a contract that will begin after Brees retires from the Saints...” Drew Brees’ post-football career is mapped out That could be two, three or more years from now. Otherwise the contract would have a fixed stating date. Nothing has changed. |

Re: Drew Brees Signs with NBC Sports
Whenever that ride is over. Once again, nothing in the deal indicates his retiring after this coming season. It is based upon whenever he decides to retire. My bet is that ESPN wouldn't leave it open regarding starting year and NBC would.

Re: Drew Brees Signs with NBC Sports
It says Mike Tirico will take over for Al Michaels in 2023 and the implication is that they want Brees to spend a season calling Notre Dame games first. That sounds to me like maybe Brees could still play the 2021 season before the broadcasting plan has to start.

Re: Drew Brees Signs with NBC Sports
Nothing against your post. I just piggybacked it to re-stress the point that the apparent deal with NBC has no specific starting date for those assuming it definitely means 2020 is absolutely Brees' last season.

What an upgrade of Collinsworth.
How strange is it that ESPN hasn't attracted big names for it's MNF show? We used to get Al Michaels and John Madden. Now it's Booger and 30 penalty flags. |

Re: Drew Brees Signs with NBC Sports
This is his last year. I really doubt he makes it through the whole season. His play may not have declined but his ability to stay healthy has.
