The NFL deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets with other teams passed Friday, meaning quarterback Taysom Hill is set to return to the New Orleans Saints for the 2020 season.
The Saints de-incentivized the rest of the NFL from trying to pry Hill off their roster by placing the highest possible restricted free agent tender on him. In order for a team to have signed Hill, they would have had to give up their first-round pick as compensation — and the Saints also had the right to match any offer that came in. If Hill plays on the one-year tender, he will earn a fully-guaranteed salary of $4.641 million, which is almost three times Hill’s career earnings in his first three NFL seasons ($1.665 million). New Orleans could also potentially pursue a long-term extension for Hill, who could succeed Drew Brees as New Orleans’ starting quarterback. more on NOLA |

He's worth it. Plays ST, WR, RB, TE routes and QB. Go find that player somewhere that is good at all of them. Ain't gonna happen.

Re: Taysom Hill set to return to Saints in 2020 after restricted free agent deadline passes
The money will be interesting.
Don't see him wanting to lock himself into a 5 year deal for anything but avg starting money. Why would he, he isn't a young kid that will hit FA in his late 20s and able to make up money. Can't see his agent letting him sign anything bar a 2 year deal at best. Seeing people calling him a good QB is strange. He has proved absolutely nothing as a QB and he turns 30 before the season starts. If your paying him to be a back up QB he's not worth Teddy money, if your paying him as a weapon he probably is |

Re: Taysom Hill set to return to Saints in 2020 after restricted free agent deadline passes
There are back up QB's with comparable throwing talents making between 2-4 million per year. AJ Macarron is one for instance. Add in the other positions Taysom can play such as TE and ST, I would offer 3 years 15 million with 10 million guaranteed.
