Re: Nick Underhill: Selection of Cesar Ruiz should turn Saints offensive line back into a strength
Peat's average salary during the first 3 years of his new contract is 11,3M, which would be the 9th among all guards this coming season - while his cap hit will be 3,6M for 2020.
So, if we assume that the salary cap keeps rising and along with it the player salaries (I don't know how corona is going to affect this) - then Peat probably won't be in top 20 earner among guards in 2022, after which he can be cut with a dead money hit of 5,2M. It seems that the Saints paid him a lot of money, but it's all relative - I think he can be a top 20 guard in the coming seasons with the overall improved O-line. |

Ruiz will play center and move McCoy to guard is what I'm hearing. McCoy apparently was not efficiently processing the calls at the line and they wanted an upgrade at center and guard so this worked out well all around.
