Jameis Winston 1 yr deal

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Not thrilled about this. I get it if your O-line is terrible, you're running for your life, and you're chucking ducks to the other team. That makes sense, and I can't be mad at you. JW coughs up a lot ...

JW coughs up a lot of his INT's while not under duress. Arians the supposed "QB whisperer" gave up on him after just one year. Yeah, I know Brady fell to them but still. He supposedly came to Tampa to work with JW.

A lot of you people that were talking smack about Teddy are going to be missing him dearly if Winston sees much playing time next year, or whatever year they play again.

Winston had an historic season for INT's. No doubt 2019 was abysmal in that department. But historically, Jameis has had statistical seasons very similar to Drew Brees.

I"m not smart enough to see his INT's were all his fault so I'll trust that you do.

And I don't recall anyone here giving Teddy B anything but love and appreciation for his time and accomplishments in New Orleans. He was the ideal teammate and backup QB who was just too good (expensive) to keep on the bench. We'll ALL miss that kind of player.

But your insinuation that Winston will produce the same level of INTs in a new offense with new players and coaches is a stretch IMO. We'll see.

OK, yeah, a few INT's can be laid to rest on their WR's but it's 30 dude. 30. Even if you give the receivers 10 he's still 30/20 on the season, that's not good. I live under the Tampa umbrella so I can't help but see a lot of Tampa football. He's always been a unprompted turnover machine, not just last season. If you think a leopard can change his spots more power to you, I have no faith. I've seen too much bad football. We lose Drew for any serious time I have zero confidence in this guy chewing any W's for us.

As to Teddy, I'm not sure what board you've been reading but Teddy did not get much love on this one nor much credit for his 5 W's. Defense got it, Sean's game planning got it. Capt. Checkdown I heard a lot. And don't let the door hit ya when he left.

Would you rather we signed Chase Daniels, Brian Hoyer or Cooper Rush? Three guys who probably aren't going to win you a game if heaven forbid Brees ever got hurt.

Winston is probably the best "back up" out there.

Re: Jameis Winston 1 yr deal

Chances are he'll likely never play a meaningful snap for the Saints. The only reason Bridgewater got a chance was a fluke play that might occur one time in 10161 (number of Brees career pass attempts).

That said, he would give a a better chance at winning than any other choice out there. Let's hope we never see him, though.

Winston is a better QB under pressure than having a clean pocket by the stats.

Also Adrian's has a long history of being a disaster with QBs in his first year.
