Saints worst draft bust of all-time?

Well, I haven't gone back into any archives from the 80's or 90's, but the only player that stands out most is RB, Ricky Williams. Could you imagine if this Saints team drafted Albert Hainesworth, or Tony Mandrich etc.

I'm only going by when I first started following them week to week in 2000, so for that time frame it's 2003 with DT Johnathan Sullivan. Such a bust.

Trading our 2 first round picks that year away to move up to select him, then have other DL's in Kevin Williams and Terrell Suggs both go just 4 picks after Sullivan, will always make that sting extra hard.

But from his healthy scratch days, the media mentioned Sullivan was at least a GOAT of the buffet line..so there's that.

Stanley Jean Baptiste . Coaches saw size and length, assumed he would become Richard Sherman 2.0. A player drafted that high, should have some sort of impact & not be cut after a year. Sean P had very little patience for SJB. All I saw is a younger version of Brandon Browner.

Just an awful draft selection.

Ohio State linebackers went with back-to-back picks in the first round of the 1974 NFL Draft. New Orleans took Rick Middleton, who played five indistinguishable years in the league for the Saints and San Diego with the 13th pick, and Denver took Randy Gradishar with the 14th pick. Who went on to be voted the 8th greatest player in Ohio State history as well the top 100 college players.

Russell Erxleben. I'm still mad about that one.

Alex Molden is up there for me. All the talent in the world but played way off receivers. I recall during games announcers would always point it out. How he stayed in the league so long no idea.

Recently, Nick Toon. Had injuries but even before that, totally not worth where he was drafted.

Gonna go with Sullivan too. Considering what they gave up for him.
