Thats a good take. Just as the aggrieved players claim we "arent hearing them," I dont know that you're really seeing the pattern here. This is truly a silent majority.

I totally get you. Believe me. For most of my life, I could have imagined living without a ding dong, before I could fathom doing without football. I never understood how people in other periods of history could ever be truly happy, without Football in their lives. Other people may get emotional remembering the song where they first kissed their Love. I get emotional hearing the Monday Night Football theme.

Now, i'm in need of a trip to Goodwill, as half of my wardrobe, Saints logo, is now obsolete. I'm not opposed to wearing it, but it just makes me so damn sad. I have a youtube channel, where I played the git tire. Saints stuff covers the background. Every other picture of me, every other thing in my garage, my floor mats, the cups at work, which dont need my name. Everyone knows who the Marques Colston stadium cup belongs to. My freakin business card! Black and gold with Solemnity Font. My
trademark helicopter silhouette with embedded Fleur de Lis. My road games, tail gates, crawfish parties with a ridiculous presence of b&g. Training camps, draft parties, and my Superdome grooms cake at my 3rd wedding. Guess what colors my tux was?

I feel like I've lost my best friend. sort of. But then I realize this friend
doesnt like me. Well, you, since im not actually "white." You dont say someone else is "privileged" unless you resent them. When you dislike an entire group of people because of their skin, thats called, guess what?
Racism. I've always hated racism. I've been a target, myself. My first idol was OJ Simpson. I know many great Law enforcement officers, who do not deserve the blanket slander. My cousins fought communists, which is what that POS Kaepernick is, in the jungles of SE Asia, under that Flag, as did a number of ancestors.

I know I know, Im "not understanding, blah blah fu**ng blah." You know what? They dont understand the Confederate Battle Flag's real meaning, nor Aunt Jemima, but damn, if they're not offended. Well, partner, this sh*t offends me. And I'm your customer. You wont feel it at first, until your media starts feeling revenue loss, and believe me (I work in Media) every Nielson Point is a buttload of cash. When tv starts to feel the pinch, sooner than later, the gravy train will start to derail. I dont know... Maybe I'm wrong. Dont care. Football happens in the Fall, when its most beautiful on the Gulf Coast. I didnt miss it in '17, or whenveer Kapersh*t was doing his ignorant carp. I dont think I'm alone.

I've said before, Im coming back here, to chat with friends, and enjoy some of the humor, drama, and intrigue. And I've stated my case. You can disagree, and we're still friends.

btw, I think I've figured out why you have some haters... your avatar looks like Father Guido is saying something sarcastic. its perfect, actually. He needs to wear a #19, though. You're old enough to know why.

Keep rockin!

We are about to see a perfect storm of 1/2 empty stadiums (and maybe missed games) due to the Corona virus and angry fans that will no longer buy anything NFL related this season. The viewership will decline whether you want to believe it or not, Guido.

This will mean a large drop in income. The salary cap will be affected. Contracts will shrink. Players will be angry at the outcome and wonder how they got to that point. Who knows? Maybe that will bring the NFL back down to earth and the game and its players might be watchable again.

I respect the way that you feel and you have every right to feel that way. But, I think you are greatly overestimating the number of people that feel the exact same way. You speak of "every Nielson Point is a buttload of cash." This is true. I think you are going to be tremendously disappointed when those Nielsen numbers come rolling in at record levels come the start of the NFL season. The NFL may be the only game in town. The televised draft alone came in at 38% over the next closest year ever. Sure, there are people bent out of shape, but for every one that follows through on their threat to totally tune out of the NFL there will be a hundred that will indeed tune in once the games get underway.

I wear my Saints gear in one form or another (all of my masks are Saints themed) every day just as I have for the past 30 years and several times a day people (usually strangers) want to talk about the Saints and the NFL and how they can't wait for it to get rolling. Not once have I had anyone tell me that they are done with the NFL. You would think that someone would have if their numbers were of any significance whatsoever.

You and others are passionate in your level of vehemence toward the NFL. That is your right. But don't be fooled into believing that you are anywhere approaching a majority. Only a tiny minority have that same passion that would stand in the way of clicking that remote and tuning into the most popular televised sport in the world today.

The NFL generates $11 billion of revenue annually. $3 billion of that comes from butts in the stands. That includes parking, concessions, game day merchandise, etc. The remaining $8 billion come from contracted revenues with broadcasting partners. The total revenue will absolutely be down. But $8 billion still places the product as a huge success. Sure, angry fans may not buy merchandise. But the vast majority of fans worldwide are not angry. As for viewership. Every person that would have normally been in the stands will now be tuning in instead. Viewership in one small demographic may indeed be down. But that will not offset the rest of the population that is starved for the distraction of the actual game itself.

And don't worry about the future earnings and contract implications. COVID-19 will have hundreds of times more effect on those than the supposed refusal of a small minority of fans that actually do decide to "tune out". Those concerns are already being addressed by the league and the NFLPA as we speak.

You keep saying a small portion of fans believe as I do while ignoring the fact that this very forum has MANY people saying that they're disgusted with the NFL's current state and will not watch it or are very close to tuning out all together.
It's ironic that just a few posts back you suggested that another poster had his head in the sand.

Many?? Count the number of posters saying they won't watch. Show me that list. Seriously. Are there ten of you yet? And how many of the possible ten of you will change your minds once the season begins? Huh?

Less than ten people out of 8435 members. I would be surprised if three of you would refuse to watch any NFL during this upcoming season once it arrives. I get why the few of you feel the way you do now. I don't agree, but I understand.

I regret having posted what I posted after reflecting on it, cause generally I been trying to keep my "current events" rants in the poli-sci area. But honestly, you put some of my feelings into words

My best friend, whom I have some of the most precious memories of my LIFE with has decided to toss me out like the trash they believe I am.

And it's probably a bad idea for a business, IMO, to hold an attitude of contempt for their customers, and even worse if to treat them like they're as stupid as they believe they are.

It is definitely a horrible idea for a business to cater to the whims of a tiny percentage of their clientele when the vast majority are the backbone of their extremely successful franchise.

That would be great, Ice, Ice, Baby. Me and a group of Hou Dats
here were quite excited about Houston's XFL Team, and its players seemed very grateful, before our state succumbed to The Hoax.

I remember bubble gum cards with football players pictures, stats, history, and also on the back- Their off-season occupation.

I wont be disappointed, Guido. Nor will I be elated, if my predictions come true.
I wont be anything. Thats my whole point. I HAVE no emotional investment in this anymore. If they stay rich, if they crash, if the Saints with the SB, if Atlanta does, if they put on shiny pants and sing Pirates of Penzance.
I wont care.
My emotional investment, which motivated me to drive 6 hours each way, win or lose- They threw it out the window. If anyone else feels me, ok.
If im the only one, still ok.
I'm looking forward to the fun new stuff I'll be doing this Fall.
And having more money.
