Re: Will the Saints keep four QB's?

It sure looks like Sean Payton is keeping Tommy Stevens on the final 55. There is no way Payton is going to let him go to Carolina after using an additional draft pick from next year to acquire him. Payton is stubborn and I just can't see him making a decision on that player this year. Stevens is the type of player Payton develops like he did with Taysom Hill. Just watch. He will probably wind up on IR with a hang nail and have a year in the Saints system with time to learn the playbook. Usually when Payton is enamored with a player then there is a good reason and I'm excited to see what Payton can do with his skill set.

Don't forget that the practice squad rules have really changed for this season. You now have the ability to bring up and send back down certain players without any possibility of them being claimed by others due to COVID-19. The squad size has also been increased to 16 players, up from 10 recently and up from 8 just few years back.

Re: Will the Saints keep four QB's?

We will keep two QB's and two multi tool players that are designated as QB's. Actually, Taysom and Stevens are not going to be relegated to just QB. Taysom can make the roster as a tight end, full back, wide receiver, return man, and special teams player. Although, in all honesty I believe that his days on special teams are limited while we try to keep him healthy. I guess it depends on just how special our special teams are without him. We've got players who excel at special teams and keep a roster spot because of it. Stevens should get his looks at a couple of spots to find out where he is best and what needs coaching and hard work.

Agree completely. I can see Stevens taking Taysom's special teams reps.
