this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If I had a guess, I see Ramz getting serious money later and Lattimore getting the franchise tag. A guess....

Re: Alvin Kamara Saints Contract Discussion

Still surprised Kamara got more than McCaffrey, as McCaffrey has been more productive than Kamara with far less talent blocking for him, and AK having Brees...

It is what it is, hoping he stays healthy with a heavier workload to warrant such a contract...

Am truly happy for him, his path, his documented hard work, he's proof what you have to do with talent is maximize it and stay focused...

Re: Alvin Kamara Saints Contract Discussion

Good, short, article, but it touches on a number of other statistics that support Kamara's value, but also offers concrete criticism when comparing production to McCaffrey...

Yep, I do not get the negativity in some of the replies. There is a ton of nuance missing in direct comparisons; in the McCaffrey vs. Kamara , Kamara beats McCaffery in statistics that aren't impacted by play choice and coaching style.. and does it with an injured 2019.

McCaffery didn't have to split time with Ingram or Murry because that's is the coaches style. There are different teams that use RBs in very different ways and as you can see below, with very different outcomes.
2017-2019
Panthers 23W - 25L (Play offs in 2017 beat by Saints)
Saints 37 W - 11L (Play offs every year with Kamara)

I can not see a way to state with reasonable certainty that if McCaffery were in a Saints jersey for the last 3 years he would have out performed Kamara. Kamara's numbers represent his value to the team and this offense which is clear in the advanced stats.

McCaffery didn't have to run behind Peat last year either.

Re: Alvin Kamara Saints Contract Discussion

There's essentially three camps on Kamara's New Contract...

There are those who feel he's essential to the success of this team, that he carries a large load of the offense, and that he should be paid accordingly...

There are those who feel he's an oft-injured, supporting cast running back, and because of that RB role, the Saints shouldn't commit that much money and that other players should take priority needing extensions...

Then there's that large group somewhere in between...

For me, he's more than earned a generous payday through his documented dedication and hard work...

But I believe it's fair to question the wisdom of committing such a large portion of the salary cap to a player who's not shown in a full season he can carry the load as a feature back; he was best in a tandem role...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

So what are you implying about Popeyes Sammich Peat?

In all seriousness, glad for Kamara. But we're all hoping he returns to form.

BTW... is Kamara giving BnG 10% as a thank you?

There is no reason he shouldn't return to that form with the healthy knee and ankle.

Sammich(s)

I hope ENERYONE returns to their prime form. Especially Sean Payton.
