Re: Saints Wednesday Injury Report: 2020 Week 1 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I am far less concerned over Davenport's elbow than Ruiz' ankle. A DE doesn't need the practice reps that a C/G would require. An elbow shouldn't affect Davenport's speed. I could see them resting it for now. Ruiz, however could be affected by an ankle depending upon the severity and he needs the reps.

The Bucs have greater concern with Evans' hammy. Even if they rest it up until gametime there is no telling what could happen once he is full go. That's a big one to watch.

I’m biased when it comes to our “two firsts” guy. He can be a difference maker as a pass rusher. I like him and like the aggressive trade that got him here. That being said, his ability to stay healthy, and actually play, have to be included in the calculus of whether that trade was “worth” it. Once again, lol, I’m biased my friend, but I could be totally wrong on the cost benefit analysis a year or two down the road. Fingers crossed he just gets more healthy.

What? Of course he’s missed games. Turf toe in 2018 and he only played in 13 games. LisFranc injury in 2019 and he only played 13 games again. Nothing wrong with concerns about a commonly injured player.

The Bucs have greater concern with Evans' hammy (or, his avoiding Marshon Lattimore). Even if they rest it up until gametime there is no telling what could happen once he is full go (to get shut-down). That's a big one to watch.

you are correct sir. pay him. stash him. start him in 2021. Either that or he'll be our starting QB.

I meant he hasn't missed a game THIS season. I made a bold prediction that K_Major acknowledged saying that Davenport would play every game this season, have double digit sacks and have more sacks than Clowney and Everson Griffen combined.

But, no. Not really concerned as long as the injuries are non-related. EVERY player sustains injuries during their career. Some have them intermittently throughout, others experience them later on, and others have them early and avoid them later.

I don't know about that. He is probably insurance in case Morestead or Lutz can't go. I believe he will be on the roster as insurance for our special teams aces.

I agree. In this COVID environment I would imagine you would want a ready replacement for every position. Gillikin fills two of those roles.

SMOKESCREEN. I fully expect Mike to play.

I also see a built in excuse for the National Media Monday morning on why the Bucs took an L in the dome.

IF Davenport can't play I would expect Granderson being the one to wreak the havoc in his place.

Davenport is officially OUT. You lost that bet AG before we even played our first game.

I get very little satisfaction winning a wager on a injured player but ...

Davenport will be injury prone until he's no longer injury prone.

Wonder how patient coach will be with him ... we all know Sean P has limited patience with injured players. Just ask Keenan Lewis, Bryd and Breaux.

I still like the trade, the aggressiveness to get the “two firsts” player. That being said, anybody who looks at me and says: “yeah, it just hasn’t worked out and isn’t/wasn’t worth one first, much less two” has a legitimate argument. Sad, I truly hope he gets healthy and plays. A lot of talent, an awful lot of potential, but the “always injured” label is difficult to shed.

How many of them cost "two firsts and a fifth"?

He'll have patience because he knows he is a stud.

I still like the trade, as well. And I still believe he'll play a significant role in our second Lombardi this season.

Smh, Davenport will never, ever be healthy.

Always a reason that he'll never live up to his potential. May aswell wrap the guy in bubble wrap and let him out on Gameday, but one of the bubbles popping would probably rupture a tendon or something.

K Major 09-11-2020 04:06 PM

Re: Saints Wednesday Injury Report: 2020 Week 1 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Our other 1st rounder RUIZ with a DNP & OUT on Sunday is equally discouraging. Will we see Davenport NEXT week? ... hopefully so but his overall inability to put Brady on his a** on a national stage is deflating.

Maybe Granderson is hyped to show what he can do.

Next man up. Bruce Arians won't give a damn about our injuries.
