None of the above is my business. Until it gets stuck in front of my face repeatedly and starts showing up in conversations that have nothing to do with that topic. At that point is it s distraction.

I view a person telling what they will do (without being asked) in two ways.. its a threat of action or virtue signaling. I am also cognizant that some people require validation which is a 'whole nother' discussion in it self.

When I pointed out that protesting a protest is effectively repeating unfavorable behavior some people got butt hurt and followed with more unfavorable behavior... none of it made my statement inaccurate just showed how much they were emotionally invested in laying next to a child in Walmart and screaming in chorus. The goal was that at least one person would read it and think '**** he is right, and watch the games'...

Here is a question to ponder. You have 8 children, send me birthday party invites to all of their birthdays. How many times do I have to show up and start exclaiming how much I hate birthday parties just before the candles are blown out before you look at me and ask "then why in the fk are you here"? If I did that it would look like I was just showing up to ruin someone else's day would it not?

Now lets talk about your definition of 'adult interaction' with an emphasis on adult LOL
Thank you for doing a far better job of putting in words my exact take. This is what Ihave been trying to say myself. Bravo!

I can appreciate your frustration with discussions turning political.

From a different perspective, there are a lot of people who followed the Saints for decades who feel that something that was a big part of their lives has been taken from them by a cultish, dishonest "movement."
We are only starting the season, so I think it's understandable that people are just getting used to yet another "new normal." (Thanks 2020).

You may think we should just ignore it and carry on. Personally, I don't think that acquiessing is the right answer.

We are seeing the corrupt message of BLM downloaded to our society at every turn.

The BLM message is not a system upgrade. It is malware.

The players and the league made this about them, we didn't.

Re: Saints vs. Buccaneers Game Day Thread

Flip, many things I agree with you on. But, I try to stay away from it, I’m of the mindset this forum should be as apolitical as humanly possible. Ignore the trolls, on BOTH sides of these political discussions, you see them as well as I do, they exist and are loud and proud of their “trolling” expertise. Stay focused on the Saints and all things Saints and you’ll be fine. Just my humble $0.02 of advice, from one new poster to another.

Bottom line: I would prefer to not see postings from either side of virtue signaling platforms here. Good, quite often very good commentary is completely hijacked bc of this nonsense.

Then take that message to the league and the players. Inserting that message into countless discussions about the Saints and the game in general does no good to meet your goal. All it does it irritate others who only want to enjoy the game and to take a break from the hell that is 2020 and whatever politics it has brought forth. You are not going to convince anyone else to join your "movement".

Do not ignore. Do not acquiesce. Just find the correct "forum" to share those views. The league and the players are not on Blackandgold.com.

Hey I can agree with you that some folks go too far with it. Even I roll my eyes a bit when the subject gets brought up on an unrelated thread, which is why I stay out of it for the most part. It so happens that its something that people tend to have very strong feelings about, one way or the other. All it takes is one spark, one person bringing it up and suddenly its another wildfire. Unfortunate, but its a symptom of the times we live in.

To reiterate, I don't view what I'm doing as a protest. My interest in watching the games is simply gone. Its not gone because of the "protests." When all this crap started a few years ago I found it annoying, but i thought to myself - oh well, I already knew before this that most of these guys probably held political views that i don't agree with. And that those beliefs encourage people to separate themselves from objective truth in favor of how they "feel" about something. No big deal - and I kept watching. Whats happening now isn't a protest. Its crusading for a cause that is rooted in feelings, not facts. Its a false narrative being spewed by the players, the league and the media in unison, and anyone who dares to disagree or bring up the cold hard truth gets labeled as "the problem." I don't know about you, but this whole trial by public opinion thing makes me very uncomfortable and very sad for the future of our country. I think most of the people who aren't watching anymore understand this and simply can't put up with it. People aren't protesting a protest, they're refusing to put up with nonsense, which is what aaaaalllllll of this social justice BLM stuff is.

Clever analogy, but this place doesn't require an invite. This is a public forum that anyone is free to join and discuss pretty much whatever they feel like discussing. I will once again agree with you that it gets out of hand, but there are folks on both sides of this thing who "show up just to ruin someone's day." It is what it is.

And there you go with the condescension again. You essentially ended an otherwise well thought out response with "I don't agree with you, so you're childish." Are we in grade school here? Do you not notice the 3 fingers pointed back at you when you point the finger at me? C'mon man, you can do better than that.

The King of All Trolls (AG) has spoken. Just ignore them, and don’t let them ruin what you find enjoyable. If it’s the Saints and this forum, and other like minded people, enjoy.

So here is my reply as a fan for many decades.

The New Orleans Saints football team was born out of political corruption and dishonesty so please forgive my disillusion. For me to say that something was "taken from me" means that I allowed something to be taken from me and this old soldier isn't near ready to entertain that.

This league and game have always been about the players, the fans made it about the players when they started wearing jerseys with their names on their backs, when they started looking up to the players as role models, when fathers started carving time away from family to watch their favorite players.

You say that by watching the Saint's that I have acquiesce, where to the contrary they have taken nothing from me because I refuse submission. On the other hand the movement set out to disrupt your life and as you have pointed out, they have succeeded by taking a pleasure from you.

What you and many thousands fail to understand is that had Kaepernick keeled and no one said a word, *****ed, or moaned.. it would have gone away by now. Once 'they' saw the misery they could inflict they knew they had power and stood on the throttle, it was the angry viewers that gave them their voice.

You are more than welcome to search all my replies here to see how i feel about the entire thing, its no secrete that I thought it was a cowards action in front of a captive audience. Not for one minute will that sort of poor character take something from me. Ever.

I respect your right to watch and enjoy the games. I am not out to tell you that you are wrong for doing so. I am just expressing why I am making the choices I am making. As long as someone is respectful, I am going to return the favor.

For example, I think the majority of your post was respectful, but I do think you might want to pump the brakes on telling me what I fail to understand.
Rather than telling me what I think on an issue, you might want to just ask.
I did not get in an uproar about Kaep. He wasn't on my team, and I thought most people saw him as a failing QB who was trying to capture the spotlight by stirring the pot. He's a bit of an idiot, who doesn't really want to play, but only wants to occasionally pretend that he wants to play. He makes any team that fails to see the distinction pay dearly.

I wasn't talking about you; from what I read, you clearly just lost a taste for the game. You thought that I was categorizing you that way and you took it personally. I wasn't, I was explaining my view and why I have used that analogy before. That said, I see you coming from a mile away with your attempt to teach me a lesson by duplicating what you believe my intent to be then following with the soft approach of "you can do better" in an attempt to probe for insecurities or see if I will seek our approval. A little narcissistic, no?

I equate the protesting that I have seen with tantrums because they are by definition extremely similar, and from what I have seen from some Saints fans closer to tantrums than disagreement. You your self have commented on the anger, emotion, and frustration now read the definition of tantrum. Assh0les on facebook calling ladies whom they are 'friends' with traitors to this country for watching the Saints game.

By Definition: (in short if it is children we call it a tantrum, if it is adults acting like children we prefer to call that a protest)
Protest - declare (something) firmly and emphatically in the face of stated or implied doubt or in response to an accusation.

Tantrum - an uncontrolled outburst of anger and frustration, typically in a young child.

There are no fingers pointing at me, I am neither angry nor am I quitting or threatening to quit anything. I saw a great game on Sunday, one that I have been anticipating for many months now.

I closed my last reply with a joke to be light hearted and friendly, to show that I was not intending for anything to be taken personally... but since you came back with concocted accusations and tried to work me (talk about condescension) you can go fu3k your self (smile). While I am sure that you see that as crass and unbecoming, it is genuine and with zero chance of being interpreted. I believe our discussion has run its course. Good day.
