For example, I think the majority of your post was respectful, but I do think you might want to pump the brakes on telling me what I fail to understand. Rather than telling me what I think on an issue, you might want to just ask. I did not get in an uproar about Kaep. He wasn't on my team, and I thought most people saw him as a failing QB who was trying to capture the spotlight by stirring the pot. He's a bit of an idiot, who doesn't really want to play, but only wants to occasionally pretend that he wants to play. He makes any team that fails to see the distinction pay dearly. |

I am ex military and worked security in college bars for 1/2 a decade, police violence is a thing that needs to be addressed and I will tell you where I am coming from on that. I am not going to take it to a racial elevation. I have seen many white cops beat the crap out of white college kids that were not doing anything to justify that stick coming out. I have also seen many white cops address college kids in a civil manor only to require backup when things went south. As a soldier hand to hand combat is nothing more than a prelude to deadly force as the threat of someone getting the upper hand puts my weapon and the potential it can be used against me in play. So I get and have seen both sides. I have also been on the bottom of a bar fight with a guy wrapped up and got sucker punched when I let him go because he told me he had enough. There is still a mark on that wall ... I do not disagree with Kaepernick on that and have stated so many times. I think he initially acted alone for the most part with the exception being his girlfriend pushing him and I believe that because he was alone. If BLM were behind him at that point the gesture would have been on a larger scale and more pronounced. I chalk it up to the right intent but horrible execution. Yes he is an idiot but idiots make sense from time to time, at least I hope so because we have all been the idiot at least once havent we? As soon as BLM saw how invasive and disruptive it was to white Americans they jumped on the train as fast as they could. They saw a platform created by Colin Kaepernick and fueled with white anger. To be quote honest it was a great move on their part as they were relatively unknown until they joined in. The Democratic party saw another opportunity to paint white conservatives as racist and jumped all over that. All made possible by mad white people that couldn't ignore it. I have a deep respect for our flag, I carried it through battle and have a great passion for what it stands for. I am not going to lose a minutes sleep or game time because someone else doesn't. I just do not require validation. |

I don't think there is any question that some LEO's do not handle their authority properly. Unfortunately, that is the nature of authority. I am sure that you ran across NCO's and commissioned officers who for varying reasons were not suited for the authority they were entrusted with. If we really delved deeply into the topic, we might find there is little daylight on our opinions on that. However, given the extreme rhetoric and actions of BLM I really don't think our nation is in a position to examine those issues in a meaningful way. Instead we are left with "defund the police" as a starting point. Much of our youth is being indoctrinated with the message that "ACAB." Ironically, BLM has put us in a position where we have to deal with it's extremism first. We have to deal with this trend of LEO's being literally murdered in the street simply for wearing the uniform. Otherwise, the most of the people who are going to be willing to serve are going to be ones who do it for the very worst reasons. |
