Michael Thomas has a High Ankle Sprain

Just reported on NFL.com and Twitter.

I havent managed to watch the game because of f'ing NFL gamepass and Sky Sports blacking out the game in the UK, however I heard this happened in the final 2 mins of the game?

Re: Michael Thomas has a High Ankle Sprain

yes, a lineman rolled up on his ankle when he was blocking on a run play near the end of the game.

hopefully this thing doesn't linger all season

Re: Michael Thomas has a High Ankle Sprain

I hope Mike sits for a week or two.

Those sprains can be tricky. Bummer that it happened in garbage time with the game in hand.

Ice up.

Didn’t this happen last year against Seattle? Payton kept him in on the last play of the game when we had the game won?

I'll play "THE WHAT IF CARD"

What if Brees got injured during a blowout victory over the Colts for some "Meaningless Record"

Records are like drinking beer. You never possess it, you just use it for a little while, then it's gone!

The same can be argued about ankles! Trust me!!

High ankle sprains are notoriously lingering. If he doesn't stay off of it for a few weeks he's likely not to be 100% for the rest of the season.

It all depends upon the severity. Like any other sprain high ankle sprains (or Syndesmosis Sprains) would fall under three grades with grade one being the least severe and three being the most severe. Grade III is a complete tear and requires surgery. Grade II is a partial tear and can heal with rest, but may require surgery. Grade I is more of a stretch and can be treated with therapy and pain control.

Here's hoping it is just a grade I.

Why do you have to make things personal? We are all supposed to be part of the Saints family. Save that sh!t for the teams we play.

To be honest, it comes from years and years of technical writing.

It's been reported Mike could be out several weeks.

Heal up Mike.

Well, its obviously ****ty news to receive, Paytons play calling costs us again, why have him out there with a 2 score lead under 2 mins left?

Let's hope that we see the team rally around each other like they did last year when Brees was out.

Exactly. Same thing happened last year against Seattle. You think he would have learned.

Argh this sucks! Makes that sanders signing so much more valuable.
Well we rallied with no Brees so we gotta rally again with no MT!

Guess we'll see how much faith Sean Payton has in Tre'Quan Smith...

There isn’t really a next man up when the man being replaced is doing historical things. It’s going to be tough.

I for one won't be holding my breath.

Tre needs to be on the side of a milk carton.

At this stage, I'd rather it be Sanders, Deonte and Bennie Fowler before Trequan sees the field.

He shows flashes of potential but it’s nowhere near consistent enough to have him start or resign him. I say let lil’jordan get in there and try.

Which means Payton will sign him to a 50 million dollar contract just like he did with Andrus Peat.

Not worried about MT after we won all those game without Brees. Leadership will figure it out. Gonna need others to step up anyway if this is a real run. They get stronger, he heals up we get even stronger.

Re: Michael Thomas has a High Ankle Sprain

OBJ wouldn't be happy in New Orleans - too small a market...

Only cities big enough for his ego would be New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles...

Nothing else would do for him unless the Jaguars moved to Londontowne this season...

Tre needs to be on the side of a milk carton.

Everyone dogs Smith. But he's out there because he does the jobs that Payton wants him to do.

Here's an example from the game. Kamara's TD run. Watch Smith come in motion and put on the kickout block that springs Kamara for the TD:

It's plays like this why he's out there. Folks expect him to be an all Pro when virtually on every play he's the 4th or 5th option out there. Even when a receiver is not the target, they need to generate the proper spacing and offer blocking. Tre is here because he does his job.

No one is dogging him. He needs to produce.

Tre has been in NO 3 years and runs sloppy routes, rarely gets separation and does not fight for the football. He has confidence issues and is inconsistent.

Smith needs to prove he can be that WR3 after Ginn moving on and the front office not drafting another WR.

He's only shown flashes but going into year 3 he needs to show up (1 catch 4 yards vs TB), cut the mental errors and not disappear for weeks at a time. Period.

No it's not. The Browns would be on the hook for the remaining $14 million on his contract in dead money if I'm reading the contract details correctly. He's not going anywhere until after the season is done.

I find his case confusing. If he isn't producing to the expectation of Payton and Carmichael, then why do they keep running him out there? Last season he played in 16 games and was in 50% or more of the offensive snaps in 15 of those 16 games. He was in for 65% of the snaps Sunday. So if he's sloppy and lazy and lacks confidence, then why is he such a big part of the offense?

Odell could do a Sign and Trade that would remedy that situation and allow him and his unhappy self to go to another market to seek success and happiness that would still elude him and he'd come to look at himself...

While I would love to see it on paper him and Thomas in the same locker room would be a recipe for disaster.
