Feel cheated
Refs did no favors in quickly allowing Raiders the benefit of every flag when opportunity arose.
I get the idea if the 1 TD and 1 Fumble/Reception for Raiders happened to the Saints, both would of been incomplete and it would of been a fumble. Some of the Saints blunders just added to the problem that they wasnt going to let Raiders lose that in the home opener of a 1.9 Billion dollar stadium. Repeat, 1.9 Billion dollar stadium. |
Re: Feel cheated
Nah...this is solely on the Saints. All those penalties were legit. The team just has to player better...period.

Re: Feel cheated
Beat in all facets. Clearly outmatched tonight, coaching included. This could be a call to arms.

Re: Feel cheated
Saints defense looked weak. 99% of the penalties were legit. Saints ran 53 plays to the Raiders 76. That means the defense could never get of the field. Outcoached because Gruden looked at who was out and targeted those areas specifically. Uggh.

Re: Feel cheated
From my tv set, only Kamara and Demario showed up tonight.
Terrible performances from Brees (very inaccurate), Jenkins (Malcolm), Jack Rabbit, Cam, Sean Payton and Dennis Allen. Oakland were playing with a couple of backups on the O line. No balance offensively. CSP simply refuses to play smash mouth football and feed a big back in Murray. 2 straight weeks of questionable play calling and lack of execution. Brees can't carry this team anymore. Taysom, Winston .. something has to change in order to matriculate the ball effectively down the field. Get it figured out. |
Re: Feel cheated
Whole team looks out of sync. I wonder if a SB was on Drew’s mind when he decided to return or was it record chasing with Brady.

Re: Feel cheated
Too many eff ups all around last nite!
Over/under thrown receivers (when they actually got open, that is!); Receivers not bothering to catch the ball before looking around; Too much focus on trying to strip the ball instead of tackling their RB's on contact! YAC was nothing short of ridiculous; Penalties that kept their drives alive and kept our D on the field too long; Waller is still running away with the ball this morning! Meanwhile, Cook's only super power appears to be invisibility so far! Beyond the 1st Quarter and the last drive, it seems like the only guys that came to play like this game even mattered were Davis (who was a predator all over the field) and Kamara (who looks like he's back in form). Coaches have GOT to get the train back on the rails and quick or this is going to be yet another, 'also ran' season for our team. |
Re: Feel cheated
Issues in order last night
1) Penalties. The saints defense (specifically the secondary) needs to relax. There's too much panicking going on in one on one coverage. Too much grabbing and holding when the ball is in the air. It's like they believe they will get cut if they give up a big catch. I hope they know PI accomplishes the same thing as giving up the catch 2) Playcalling. Don't get me wrong, it's great watching Payton throw out 40+ player substitutions when things are clicking but when it's not just run the ball. Kamara was getting 4 to 5 yards a carry and Murray literally falls forward every time he touches the ball. Yet, Payton seems to look for reasons to abandon the run and then when those reasons aren't there he invents them. 3) Brees. This feeds a little into number 2 . I think at this point in his career it may make sense to simplify things a little bit. I think we all know Drew's arm is not what it used to be so Payton needs run the ball a lot more and allow brees to selectively go no huddle to make things a little easier for him. We all knew this day would come. The sooner we embrace it and address it head on the better. |
Re: Feel cheated
After watching that thing last night, officiating was the least of the concerns. Jeese, ridiculous. Typical annual stinker we somehow seem to spit out early in the season, where everything in all phases of a game stunk/failed to show.

Hang in there Saints fans. Let's see how they respond this week. |
Re: Feel cheated
We came out and proved we had more talent. Gruden found a way to get more heart.

The Raiders just wanted it more than we did, regardless of the penalties, we couldn't stop 1 TE all game and by the end just completely stopped tackling their running back. All around bad effort by players and coaches. If Brees doesn't up his game by the midway point (if he's able) I'd like to see someone else take over. |

His turnover before half was a backbreaker but we have come back from worse. The main thing that annoyed me was he had a relatively clean pocket most of the night but never really looked down field. The running backs appeared to become his first and only read. Brees has always been an aggressive player, sometimes you win and sometimes you don't, but to see him accepting defeat in the form of constant 2-3 yard gains was pretty infuriating. But there was plenty blame to go around, defense made it a catch up game very quickly and Andrus Peat just did his normal gameday things. Not to mention an absurd penalty on a perfect block by Sanders. |
Re: Feel cheated
Taysom Hill - 14 (23%) ...snap count vs LV Raiders.
Hopefully he's more involved on offense vs GB. |
Re: Feel cheated
The calls went against us consistently. They weren't egregious but we didn't get a break all night long from the refs.
