The TE’s were running completely free again last night ... personally the 6 DB thing with all its intended deception of the offense is more than likely the reason for these flat out missed assignments...
Agreed 1,000% on the last comment, it’s my belief also. As far as “In game adjustments”, DAllen tried everybody in the state of Louisiana, save members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, trying to cover Waller. Nobody could do it though. Adjustments were made, they were just unsuccessful, very unsuccessful. Their player wanted the ball and yards more than our players wanted to stop him, it was that simple. But, the bigger picture that either the team or the scheme can’t cover a TE is being proven true.

Re: Saints vs. Packers GAMEDAY THREAD

Okay, after watching this one, the criticism is real simple...

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

How many times since 2017 have we seen this script where the game is tight and Payton abandons an effective running game?

Only last night, it was effective at wearing down their defense of reserves, and yet Payton pulled a General Montgomery and called off the run game...

And in what scheme is the SS not the personnel of choice in covering a Tight End? What was Dennis Allen thinking and where was the veteran leadership of Malcolm Jenkins to bring this to the DC?

I can be a Drew Brees fan and recognize that he's unwilling and/or unable to get the ball downfield, opening the field for bigger plays by Kamara; and he looks RockyIII scared...

We've been fortunate bringing in Taysom Hill cold off the bench, and receive big sparks from him in the past, expecting him to do that everytime is supercilious...

Last night, his fumble, was as much on an out-of-rhythm play call forcing him into a naturally flowing run game than his mistake...

Watching Payton deflect last night when asked about abandoning the run game and shifting blame to coverage breakdowns, a fumble pissed me off as much as his blaming loss solely on refs in the NFC CG vs Rams...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I agree...that was the most predictable play ever. Smith did not even look at the RB and went straight for Hill. Of course it doesn’t help that he also had a TE blocking their best front 7 player.

Astute observation.

Not to beat a dead horse but I'm sure you've already seen the stat line on "running attack" last night.

Saints ran for over 154 yards in the 1st half ...

Saints ran 6 x's for 12 yards in the 2nd half .

CSP is a little too impatient perhaps? I'll piggy back off your earlier post .. "do you think Bill Bellichick gives a rats a** that the Raiders knew he was going to run it down their throats"?

If ain't broke, don't fix it. No need to get cute. Run it down their throats, keep it simple, give your defense a break and churn up clock. No need to get into shootouts with teams.

Oh well … on to Detroit .

To cut inside and not outside! Cut inside and the defender is behind him, cutting outside allowed the defender to get between him and the ball.

Beat the heck out of that horse, lol. That’s logic I understand. And what was the score at halftime? 17-13 Saints. The best way to keep GB’s offensive weapons off the field is to keep your offense on. Running game was impressive, imho, I don’t understand the abandoning of it.

Re: Saints vs. Packers GAMEDAY THREAD

Eh. We’ve started out 1-2 before and made the playoffs. At least there was improvement against a very potent GB team without our number one target. Lots of work to be done but I still think it will be game 5 before we know who this team is. Hopefully it’s more than just Brees to Kamara.

just did, only positive that shows up in the NFL is his run blocking

POSITIVES

—Scott Frost offense demanded he impact the run game as a blocker.

—Excellent jump-ball receiver who can win with high-pointing.

—Times his move on the ball well and shows natural athleticism playing above the turf.

—Has the speed to stretch the field and can run off defenders.

—Productive down the field and flashed the ability to pick up chunk plays after the catch.

NEGATIVES

—Big catch radius but struggles with drops.

—Thin frame allows press coverage to slow him down.

—Frame is maxed out and looks stiff when asked to break off routes.

—Weak through traffic and can be timid at the catch point.

—Frame and catch radius limitations might limit him to a slot role only.
