Record Prediction
Someone may have already posted this, but here is my take on how the season will unfold:
Week 1: @Panthers- This one is a win. I just feel the Saints are the better team this year. We come in as the underdogs and leave with an early division lead. (By the way this game for me is the key to getting into the playoffs this year) Week 2: Giants- This is also a win. We are far more talented than this team and Eli is not ready yet. Saints start off hot at 2-0 Week 3: @Vikings- The Vikings cool us off as our defense is unable to contain Culpepper from escaping the pocket for a last minute TD to win the game. Now 2-1 Week 4: Bills- The Saints sack Losman 4 times causing him to fumble once for a D TD. Karney wins this one with a last second field goal. 3-1 Week 5: @Packers- The Saints finally start garnering national attention as they beat up the Packers pourous D with 200+ yds rushing from Duece. 4-1 Week 6: Falcons- As usual a low scoring close game comes down to a kick by Carney as time expires to win the game 20-17. 5-1 Week 7: @Rams- The Saints own the Rams. We pass and run all over them and D. Smith gets 2 picks on Bulger to take the record to 6-1. Saints fans start to hyperventalate. Week 8: Dolphins- Too much of Joe Horn in this one. The Saints D puts on it's best showing of the season and holds Miami to 9 points on three field goals. 7-1. This is when things start to get ugly. Week 9: Bears- In what has become a yearly event as much as Christmas or Easter the Saints come out flat a lose a game they should win thanks to turnovers by the offense. 7-2 heading into the bye week. Week 11: @Patriots- The off week makes the team come out and play sloppy. Penalties and turnovers against the Champs are a bad combination. 7-3 Week 12: @Jets- The Saints play this one tough, but lose on a last second pass from Pennington to Coles. The Saints are now officially reeling. Saints fans start jumping on Brooks, Haslett, the Defense. The world is now against the Saints after another poor Primetime showing on Sunday night. 7-4 Week 13: Bucs- The Saints show heart when they are backed into a corner. That plus an atrocious Tampa Offense lead to a 14 point victory to right the ship at 8-4 Week 14: @Falcons- Vick goes bananas on the Saints D for 100+yds rushing and two running TD's on Monday night. The Saints prove again they are not ready for Primetime. 8-5 Week 15: Carolina- Payback for the Panthers. The Dfense causes three turnovers leading to 17 points and the Saints can't make a comeback late. Panthers take a one game lead on the Saints in the standings. 8-6 Week 16: Lions- Fighting for their playoff lives and jobs, the Saints rally for a solid effort and a win. They are now tied with the Panthers for the division lead at 9-6. Week 17: @Bucs- A Saints win and they win the division and get the first round bye. A loss and the Panthers are in and the Saints watch the playoffs from home again. Although, the Bucs have long since been eliminated they bring their A game and push the Saints to the limit and overtime. A safety by a blitzing McKenzie send the Saints nation into hysteria as they finally break the postseason drought. 10-6 |
