If Winston is the man, then pay the man.

"I try to give everybody my all. I try to be right there with Drew along the way, watching film with him, preparing with him. So I felt like I went out there and I was prepared to lead this team. And I'm happy that my teammates had my back and they went out there and executed well and things went our way." - Jameis Winston

"He led us to an important scoring drive, led us to another field goal drive. The one thing I would say with Jameis, too, is he's extremely bright. So functioning and understanding what we're doing, he picks it up quickly." - Sean Payton

So many people say Winston isn't smart. I call BS. I'm the last guy in the room who wants to see Drew retire. I'm the first guy in the room who wants to see Taysom get a shot. If Sean says Jameis is the man then he's the man. Sean knows QBs.

If Hill was the man he would have played far more when Breed was out last year. He's a weapon and he's paid to be one. He is what Tebow should have been(assuming he could catch and run routes)

+1.

Ultimately, that's all that matters.

Certainly feel we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Would agree for next season...but that is where we will find the future, thinking past 1 season

What Sean feels and what he says are not necessarily the same in this case. Even if he thinks we are in deep sh!t with Winston "under center" he has to portray total confidence in what the dog dragged in.

Let's not discount Jameis Winston beyond this season.

If you've heard Sean P talk about Winston over the last several weeks, he sounds supportive and encouraged about what he brings to the table at QB … long term. When CSP was the QB coach up here (Dallas), he said similar things about a raw Tony Romo. Polished him up into a top tier QB.

Time will tell on JW though.

I have to totally agree, never want drew Brees on the bench but it is what it is. Next man up

This has nothing to do with Drew retiring and has nothing to do with Taysom starting. It has to do with how Winston's effectiveness will be. I truly hope the best for our team. Winston has a chance, it started yesterday.

Regardless, Jameis will be your starter on Sunday AG. It's time to accept that. The next Pat Mahomes isn't on the roster right now.

Brees is seriously banged up right now & needs time to heal. If we get him back at the start of the playoffs ... GREAT. If we don't, we have to roll with what we have.
