If they simplify the offense it will make the offense worse. As it stands we may not win another game until Brees returns. Some have looking forward to life without Brees. I'm afraid they are going to find out.

I am not one looking to move past the Brees era until its it time ... still don’t think we are there even with this injury though I do think he will be down 4 weeks minimum. Never been a Winston fan but I think the guy has talent we will find out this weekend if he can mange a SP offense and and bring in some of he field stretching ability with his arm strength. Controlling the lack of discipline that lead to a 30 INT season last season is the first major test. Hopefully all the positive statements on his maturity are accurate and we see signs of a post Brees in house QB.

I'll have to trust Payton when he say's that Winston is a smart guy. I've seen a lot of silly behavior that would prove otherwise.

I've heard from a couple of knowledgeable sources now that it could be a 2-3 week timetable. If anyone can meet the low end of that timetable it is Brees. I certainly wouldn't bet against him. He came back from the thumb in one week shorter than the shortest estimated timeframe.

When people hear collapsed lung they think total deflation or something major.

"A collapsed lung happens when air enters the pleural space, the area between the lung and the chest wall. If it is a total collapse, it is called pneumothorax. If only part of the lung is affected, it is called atelectasis."

According to Stephania Bell what Brees experienced was very minor and should totally heal in two weeks time. The real issue is the ribs. He was already playing with the fractures on the left side. So it's just the new fractures that come into play. She said as long as there are no sharp edges he should be able to play with them as they continue to heal.

Dr. David Chao said that the fact that there was no hospitalization needed for the lung signifies that the injury had to have been minor. He did add that the Saints may face a fine for not reporting the existing rib fractures on their injury report prior to the game.

Have to know when to change the protection calls to play center. Maybe Ruiz is struggling with that as a rookie.

He needs a year in the weight room. He can learn the playbook at the same time. I expect good things from him but he's still just a 21 year old boy.

Also, I like that Sean drafted two centers with our first pick two years in a row. Not every guard can play center and Payton values players who are versatile. I realize that McCoy wasn't getting the calls right last year and we needed a smart center. We got him. Now we just have to season him a little bit.

That was the main concern with McCoy. At guard he'd be able to let his athleticism take over.
