Drew Brees on his game-ending injury: multiple rib fractures, collapsed lung

For everyone that thinks he focus is statistical and not team oriented, the action and words speak otherwise. :bng:

UPDATE - Brees suffers multiple rib fractures, collapsed lung
Link

“I actually felt terrible before the two minute drive, but just had to find a way,” Brees said, referring to a possession he capped with a touchdown pass to Alvin Kamara. It was the final pass he threw on Sunday, ceding the job to Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill after halftime.

Agreed. We all know how competitive he is. For Brees to admit he couldn't go, this has to be bad.

Remember when Drew wouldn't let his backup see the field? I hope he's alright.

I knew it was bad when Drew took himself out the game, guy never does that.

I hope this isn't how it ends.

He said it wasn't pain that was the issue. It was spasms and tightening. It certainly doesn't sound career threatening. LOL! His game depends upon touch and those things would directly affect that. Don't forget he did go 5 for 6 passing AFTER the injury on that two minute scoring drive.

Multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung.

That's what has been reported.

Re: Drew Brees on his game-ending injury: multiple rib fractures, collapsed lung

These things happen but Ruiz has let this happen more than once and he never even seem to put a hand on the defender ... this time the defensive player went way beyond arm hook and landing on the side of his target.

Broken ribs ... 6 weeks to heal

Punctured Lung ... depending on severity most punctured lungs require 6 to 8 weeks.

Might not see Brees before playoffs ... IF.

My wife got a collapsed lung from a kidney procedure. It was two weeks before I could put her back out there in service.

Fractures and a collapsed lung ... it's a good thing he didn't take another big hit and didn't play the second half, that could have been quite a scary situation.

Wife was ER MD at one point in her career straight up diagnosis ... Google it. Might be different for an athlete / athletic criteria but with 5 cracked ribs total on both side at 41 years of age ... optimistic but if possible it will be Drew Brees.

Not ready to move on to post Brees Saints at his point.

Apparently he came into the game with cracked ribs from the previous game. That's why he was wearing a flak jacket.

With respect sir, whether we are ready or not doesn't matter. I am just hoping with a week of taking first team reps and the Payton putting in a game plan specifically for him, Winston can step up.

Understood ... Just hoping Brees does make it back and takes us to a SB victory. Hoping as well that Payton can successfully put together a game plan for Winston and Winston can execute that plan. Stepping into Arens offense last year he threw 30 INT’s ... Yikes.

Also Dennis Allen puts together a plan to neutralize ATL they have played much better as of late ... They always play us hard.

Get well soon Mr. Brees. Let's see if Hill can be a NFL QB. Winston is not the short or long term answer.

If Winston isn't the short or long term answer, it's definitely not Taysom Hill.

He's not a starting NFL caliber QB.

Period.

I don't think either are to be honest.

Even in limited time, Winston threw a pass straight to a 49er player that was dropped, the sort of pick he's known for.

Buckle up, the rest of the season may not be very fun.

Re: Drew Brees on his game-ending injury: multiple rib fractures, collapsed lung

However the QB situation unfolds for us at least our big targets are healthy
and between Kamara and Murray we'll have to run the ball a little more.
The Defense has stepped up and we will need them to keep that going. If we get behind early we won't have Drew to work his magic for a while.

4everSaint 11-16-2020 06:10 PM

Re: Drew Brees on his game-ending injury: multiple rib fractures, collapsed lung

This really sucks. Dang.

I think Winston will look better when they have a plan dialed up for him. He had to come in and work with what he saw. I think we will see a pretty healthy mix of him and Hill. My Coworker wants Hill to be the starter. While I think he is fun to watch on those cute plays they try and run with him. I don't think he is a starter. He is a terrible passer and even more terrible at reading the field. He stares down his targets and goes through almost no progressions.

I just really hate this for Brees. Damn I'm depressed.

Drew finished the half with that.

The male of our species is quite odd isn’t he?

If I severed my leg I could still mow the lawn with a push mower. Get a fu%king sore throat and you might as well drag me out back and shoot me lol.

I just saw the news on MondayNightFootball , halftime show.:(

First, Dear Lord. Best to healing Brees , quickly. This is a huge loss...for now.

Saints were here at midpoint in Nov. coming along nicely in the W column.
In the Ws, some good playing. Some improvements, close calls, but leading the pack in their division.

Winston or Hill?
Ehhhh, maybe put them both out there. Flip a coin. I don’t know.

Here's hoping Jameis steps up if SP starts him like Teddy did last season.

Keeping Taysom in the WildCat and special plays may be the best alignment.
I'm sure we will be in for an interesting ride however this shakes out.

I wasn't as worried last year because I knew Teddy had some ability. I have zero faith in Jameis and can see us losing every game he starts.

Gotta wonder how Ruiz feels? Dude...you just blew up our HOF QB and may have ****ed the season (which may be his last).

At least attempt to block. Drew got trucked on that.

I’m sure Pete has introduced him to emotional support pizza after he caused Drew to hurt his thumb last season.

This could be a career defining game for him. Kinda like when Williams blew the Vikings game, hope he can move on..

Ruiz had a bad play, but the whole line was getting pushed back on that play so it's on them too. Drew got crushed between Street and Peat before Street took him down. If the pocket didn't give so much ground, Drew might have been able to shift away from Street to at least not take the full force of the sack.

Watching the Bears being pushed back on there heals every single pass play was pathetic , they are horrible on offense what happened to Drew was a hick up compared to dah bears. Ruiz is a center he needs to get there eventually.
