Could be a diversion...

He played well in his last real series played as QB.

People on this board look at his handful of throws in a game during one-off plays and judge him on that. QB is about getting a rhythm and calming your nerves as well, that isn't easy to do if you only get 1 or 2 chances to throw a game.

You should look at his last preseason game he played for an accurate depiction of his QB performance.


"Hill’s performance through four preseason games was impressive, completing 40 of his 59 pass attempts (67.8%) to gain 443 yards through the air. Three of his passes scored touchdowns, and he threw just one interception — and none after his first outing. His decision-making was markedly improved over previous performances, as were his mechanics. He’s throwing a tighter spiral with a more efficient windup."

I'm excited. Hill just has a "vibe". Now, over the course of an entire game things might not "vibe", but we're finally going to get to see one way or the other.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is some sort of Payton double speak, think he likes to feel like he is pulling one over on everyone....media, opponent own fans, team etc. Just cuz he's starting doesn't mean he's taking majority of snaps. maybe he is, maybe he ain't. Way she goes boys

Ok but you have to understand that he’s literally only ever played this style of QB in preseason games.

I expect him to be on a pretty short leash. If he turns the ball over early I think you will see Winston taking the majority of the snaps.

Glad to see him as the #1. It’s time for him to step forward now and establish himself as what everyone calls the “heir apparent”. That being said, I trust preseason game statistics about as much as I trust myself farting when I have the runs. Preseason stats are worthless. Atlanta has an extremely porous defense. I fully expect Hill to take advantage of it..., in big ways. Atlanta is allowing 410 yards per game and 27.9ppg, they’re in the bottom five or ten teams in just about every defensive statistical category.

I fully expect TH#7 to demonstratively show he’s not just a gadget player. If he can’t do it against Atlanta, right now, then he just doesn’t have the juice. I hope the game is available in my area, it’s near impossible to form any objective opinions when I can’t see the game with my own two eyes.

It will not matter if the Blessed Virgin Mary herself lines up behind center and throws with the touch of God. If our line allows unblocked rushers a direct line of attack, it will be short lived.

Why? Atlanta has equally as historically bad a defense as Dallas does. From my perspective, TH#7 is setup for success. He has a crapload of weapons around him. If the Saints defense continues playing well, I anticipate a 31-10 type of game, Saints favor of course.

I don’t believe it is a diversion, he will start. To your point about the stats that people are using as a litmus test, one pass (often a gimmick pass) every 14 days does not speak to his passing ability. I’m not sure preseason against C string defense with a vanilla offense is a good sampling either.

We are just going to have to wait and see on this one. :bng:

Why? Because he stares down his target, doesn't go through a progression, has little to no anticipation with his throws, and spotty accuracy at best. Thats a few off the top of my head. Admittedly I haven't seen him this year, so I'm basing this off the last couple of years. If you say he's improved in all these areas this year I'll take your word for it, but if he hasn't...well, even a bad defense has got to be licking its chops right now.

Someone in the media/local press must have leaked or misled info on QB because I listened to Sean Payton speak to reporters TODAY and he's never admitted that Taysom Hill is your "starter" on Sunday.

Taysom was getting first team snaps at QB because he usually doesn't as the third string and somebody ran with it making assumptions.

We won't know I'll bet until they take the field on the first offensive play.

Pretty much the same this year except he’s got a little fumblitis.

I'm thinking SP is screwing with Raheem's head, whoever starts at QB will probably not make a difference.
