Taysom also has a bad wheel as well, Chris. Next week will tell us quite a bit...

Look, we came in, took care of business, and hopefully we find out what's up with Jackrabbit...

We've got some issues on the left side of the line right now as well...

That is a big concern, not a good showing for Taysom which I'm sure has SP wigging out.

Will be interesting to see if Hill can rebound after this week. He was just mostly ineffective.

Re: Saints vs Broncos Game Day Thread

Whilst the Broncos have a decent D, Taysom missed a ton of throws.

Thomas middle wide open, sacked.
Trequan open mid right, sacked.
Callaway had a step on a post route - throws into double coverage.
Hesitated on a perfectly designed screen pass to Kamara.

Stats don’t show the on the field impact of players like Kamara. Just having him out there in motion left Taysom walking in to the end zone.

Doesn’t help fantasy players but has an impact on the scoreboard and win/loss

Also may be a rope-a-dope for Atlanta

Yeah, I mean that’s what we always said about Reggie Bush too. For $15 mil/year Kamara is supposed to be a centerpiece.

If Brees has a setback I would like to see what Winston can do. Wish they would have let him play 4th quarter just for curiosities sake.

So this is interesting:

Did we essentially know it would be a cake walk so we went ultra-vanilla like a preseason game to not put more of our tendencies with Taysom on tape?

Would explain some of it I guess.

Re: Saints vs Broncos Game Day Thread

Does SP mean playing "ultra conservative" by protecting the football? Sorry, not buying that from coach. He talked up Winston too.

I'm still not sold on Taysom as a passer & his decision making is questionable. There were throws made into double/triple coverage while others trailing were open.

Until Bress is healthy and ready to return, we need to continue running the ball & playing sound defense. Kwon Alexander has been as good as advertised in the trade.

Bottom line, we got the dubya but must play better at the QB position while #9 is out. Atlanta will be a very difficult game 2nd time around.

Me either, K. I’m not sold on Taysom and Payton’s explanation. I get some people on here wants him to be the heir apparent but he’s not. I hope I’m wrong but if it walks like a duck

Re: Saints vs Broncos Game Day Thread

Taysom Hill clearly not the answer....CLEARLY, some of you guys can see EVERYTHING wrong with every other player but somehow can't see that Taysom isn't the answer in New Orleans as the fulltime QB. If Jameis doesn't play against the falcons I believe they will be ready for a Taysom led offense especially coming off that win with against Oakland

Re: Saints vs Broncos Game Day Thread

Perspective: Second career start after not starting at QB in six years...

Likely Last Minute Game Plan: They have no QBs so get a lead and sit on it without providing game film for upcoming opponents...

Denver would have a Top-5 defense if they had a competent offense that wouldn't put them in bad situations...

For you youngsters, Vic Fangio was the LBers coach under Mora for the famed Dome Patrol, so he knows defense...

Back to original perspective statement - Though he's 30, he's still young in terms of NFL experience, and coaches emphasized not making mistakes, that lingers in an experienced player's head...

Liken it to the situation of Marcus Robinson's rookie year and the fateful Vikings Hail Mary where Payton and Allen told Mr. Marcus to layoff resulting in a bad play...

So let's keep all that in there and see what Taysom does next week @ATL...

I'm with you on this. He played well in game 1. Game 2 was weird and had weird and unusual circumstances. He didn't play that great. But we got the win.

See what the kid has in him against Atlanta and how he responds to this game.

According to a tweet from Nick Underhill ...

Janoris Jenkins will be "ok". If accurate, that's GREAT NEWS.

If anyone has the tweet and can embed it, that would be awesome.

I'm glad we dialed back the game plan. No need to bring a machine gun to a pillow fight. Taysom did a good job of throwing the ball away.

Game ball goes to 'contact tracing'. I know that isn't a person, but I'm sure not giving it to Goodell!

Exactly. Make no mistake, he missed some opportunities, and I think not having Drew on the sideline, or more specifically the preGame meetings hurt Taysom in that Brees can restate, breakdown the CoachSpeak...

Not at all fair to assess Hill based on Denver. Throw that game away. The NFL should have cancelled that game as far as I'm concerned. The whole thing was discombobulated on both sides. Everybody, including the Saints, was winging it.

I get what you are saying, I might phrase it as absent unless someone wants to characterize not making a decision as a decision. You or I could stand back there and pump our arm as effectively.

As far as questioning someones decision making talents, well brother I can not think of anyone in the Saints organization that hasn't been tagged with that by someone in these forums this year lol. :bng:

I agree that Sean Payton doesn't have a history of a calculated reduction in vigor, and thats likely a line for the press.

Re: Saints vs Broncos Game Day Thread

This is the first game I can remember watching where both our Offense and Defense seemed emotionless. And I have a idea what it could be.
We’re gonna miss Drew when he’s done.
I didn’t realize until yesterday how much he means to the organization.
Our guys on both sides without a doubt would run through a wall for Drew, including Malcolm. Players will say it’s all about the team and winning. But their definitely not happy with Taysom. Body language says it all.

He didn't play "great" AT ALL we gotta stop tossing around words like that for any and every performance

I'm not hearing anything about him notnhaving enough starts, bro make the throws you're supposed to make Taysom plays offense not defense Denver qb situation as it pertains to on field play had no effect on Taysoms decision making. He's the starzer for now and regardless he need to play like it ESPECIALLY in a game like this, bring that BS to ATL next week watch how the outcome differs. If he ain't ready or doesn't have enough experience then put in JAMEIS who DOES have the experience.

Anyone know what happened to Marquez Callaway? They said he went in the tent in the 3rd quarter?

Guess that would explain why Austin Carr was back covering a punt late.

Knee injury, he got up slowly after a punt return that landed him on our sideline.

We had gone into full backup mode by the time Carr was back for the punt. That's when Winston entered the game. The defense the previous few plays was packed with backups, as well.

Re: Saints vs Broncos Game Day Thread

-Murray is really good. The Saints are blessed to have him.
-The Saints won and stayed mostly healthy.
-Hill struggled a bit in his second start against a good defense on the road. Indecisive at times. Forced a couple throws. Will always be a weapon running. Two TD's and an int. If that's as bad as it gets, I will take it. The game plan was clearly run first for various reasons. Run the clock. Win. Don't run up the score.
-The Denver coach, staff, and front office should be fired. I could have called a better game even with a PS WR playing QB. They didn't even really attempt to be competitive offensively. And, more importantly, they should have had a QB in a bunker somewhere.

Knee sprain as Diz alluded to earlier. Callaway will miss time.

Payton signing Trevor Siemian the week before the Denver QB's are all ruled out. Coincidence or did he know something?

Re: Saints vs Broncos Game Day Thread

It's been entertaining the past few days listening to the local talking heads on Denver sports radio. They've been whining and whining. They actually believe the Broncos would have won the game if Drew Lock had played. I'm not saying they wouldn't have had a chance, but this is Drew Lock.....the guy who leads the league in turnovers going against the hottest D in the league. Didn't we have like 11 takeaways in the 5 previous games? But then again, this is the 3rd NFL season I've lived in Denver. And every year these guys believe Denver is bound for the playoffs. Their fanbase is pretty delusional right now. The team has talent. They desperately need a QB. Pat Shurmur is terrible. They signed Melvin Gordon to a 16 mil contract. He's pedestrian at best. Philip Lindsay should have been given a raise. And giving him 10 or less touches a game isn't going to help them win.
