If I ever had a real criticism of Loomis, it's resigning ANDRUS PEAT. Decent guard but constantly hurt & has already spent some time this season on the training table. His cap # (based on spotrac) is north of 11M next year & can't stay healthy. Is a pay cut in order? Restructure?![]()
Guys like Kwon, Sanders & or Janoris gets their deals re done as well. Just those 3 guys can help "restructure" the cap alone. T Rex (free agent in 2021)? Who knows however I'd let Rankins walk unless he's willing to take a discount. Marcus D is under contract so there's that. I'm also curious to see what happens to Thomas Morstead this off season as well. BTW, Lattimore … he has his faults but I definitely want him a part of my team for years to come. Regression is debatable but he's a top 10 CB that is on a island against ELITE WR's every week. Other side of the island, we have guys in their 30's with nothing behind them. Decisions, decisions, decisions. |

Re: How soon can the Saints get out of their contract with Andrus Peat?
Ruiz will be fine - he's just behind the ball with limited off-season due to Covid and having injured himself on top of that.
I think he'll be a stud, but remember that he was a center in college, so he's learning a fairly new position for him. Also, the timing of the whole line is challenged by playing in front of Hill, who is not as experienced of a QB as Bridgewater was last season. Peat is what he is... which is not much - clearly the weakest link on that line. |

Peat's play has been disappointing. Which is odd because to the eye he looks to be in his best shape as a Saint. He's never been dominant. Good. Versatile. Experienced. Positive locker room guy. The whole line would benefit from running the ball early and more often.

OK. Time for me to pull the crow from the microwave and take a big bite.
I was on board with prospect of Peat's potential to IMPROVE and therefore justified his new contract to many here. I. WAS. WRONG. He's regressed. It's obvious. And I'm worried we face the same type of playoff scenario as 2019. |

Re: How soon can the Saints get out of their contract with Andrus Peat?
I, along with others have said it more than once, when Peat plays our offense sucks. Easton was the far better player and it showed on film and statistically. I'll never understand signing him to that deal, it's completely unjustifiable. There was no interest for him on the market and we give him a blockbuster deal.
My only hope is that Peat hurts his pinkey toe and takes a seat on IR, any backup would be better there. No, he can't be cut next season but I hope he isn't starting. Get rid of him in 2022 and fire whoever pushed for him to stay ASAP. |
The Saints are 0-42 when running the ball less than 15 times in a game.

Isn't Warford just sitting around?
