How soon can the Saints get out of their contract with Andrus Peat?

Ruiz is young but I wasn't a fan of the pick to begin with. Not good when we have 2 of the worst in this area.

In other words, the Saints have a choice: they can cut him in March and eat a big loss in salary cap accounting, or wait until 2023, when they’ll first recoup some resources by parting with him (saving $9.225 million in cap space). There are still games to play this year, but the clock is effectively ticking on when exactly they’d like to take this gut punch.

Getting Brees back doesn't change anything if those guys are starting for us.

Playoffs will look very familiar if they don't turn it around.

It is what is. We have a LG that stinks at pass blocking. No team has good starters at every spot on the O-Line.

Up to this point, Peat is who he is and isn't getting any better. The long term contract he signed is still a shocker for me.

I just hope in 2021, the Saints front office will proceed with caution on the next big potential paydays … Lattimore & soon to be Free Agent Trey Hendrickson.

Ruiz will be fine - he's just behind the ball with limited off-season due to Covid and having injured himself on top of that.

I think he'll be a stud, but remember that he was a center in college, so he's learning a fairly new position for him.

Also, the timing of the whole line is challenged by playing in front of Hill, who is not as experienced of a QB as Bridgewater was last season.

Peat is what he is... which is not much - clearly the weakest link on that line.

Peat's play has been disappointing. Which is odd because to the eye he looks to be in his best shape as a Saint. He's never been dominant. Good. Versatile. Experienced. Positive locker room guy. The whole line would benefit from running the ball early and more often.

Yeah Lattimore strikes me as someone who will want him a big payday and frankly I don't think he's earned it.

He's one of the lazier players I've seen, getting beat off the line week after week.

OK. Time for me to pull the crow from the microwave and take a big bite.

I was on board with prospect of Peat's potential to IMPROVE and therefore justified his new contract to many here.

I. WAS. WRONG.

He's regressed. It's obvious. And I'm worried we face the same type of playoff scenario as 2019.
