Michael Thomas ruled out on Sunday vs Chiefs

Per Adam Schefner :disgust:

Ankle/leg injury.

Michael Thomas will miss the final three games of the regular season because of his lingering ankle injury, but the Saints expect him close to 100% for the start of the playoffs...

Well, this sucks. We've had what ... one or two games with Brees and Thomas together this season?

AsylumGuido 12-18-2020 03:24 PM

Re: Michael Thomas ruled out on Sunday vs Chiefs

At least we'll have Taysom back to where he is most valuable to help. Maybe see more 12 personnel groupings. Maybe even some 13's with Cooks, Taysom and Trautman.

This may put a little more pressure on KC's defense; they will have to watch film on a different WR.

Malcolm Brown & Nick Easton are also out vs Chiefs.

Deonte' Harris is questionable.

I heard they are missing two starters on the o-line?

This is the bigger problem. Peat will get worked all game, D line will allow the run. We need Harris back as well, he was great a flipping the field.

I think Brown means more to our D than most people realize.
Bold prediction: I still think we roll the Chiefs this time around. By two scores or more, you heard it here first.

They are. Their best lineman by far is out for the season and two others are either out or really banged up.

This all comes back to SP leaving Thomas in to block during garbage time in week 1

You know... Tre’Quan Smith plays really, really well when he plays MT’s role as X-receiver.

More importantly we now have Taysom back in his most impactful roles.

High ankle sprains... there’s just no recovering from them in-season if you play through it.

Re: Michael Thomas ruled out on Sunday vs Chiefs

Unfortunate for Thomas. Hopefully he's as close to 100 % in 4 weeks.

See you in the playoffs.

Ice up.

Well, DANG! Another key player on IR... We really do favor a Mash unit. Hot lips? Is that you?

Summer going into my senior year, had one of those playing summer basketball; x-rays showed a green-stem fracture; my Mom was a radiologist tech and her and Doc said I'd been better if it broke clean...

Despite being in what I thought was phenomenal shape (athletics standards today would laugh), it took till I was twenty till I was back to where I was...

Mike will adapt in the playoffs to contribute, but we need more than Eric Martin, we need @CantGuardMike to win the Tournament...

Most of Thomas' damage is done out of the slot anyways...

That's a fact.

3quan needs to be that solid #2. I think he's up for the task at hand.

Jared Cook also needs to be great.

This game is setting up Brees to return as the hero. Home. Coming off an injury. Minus his All-Pro WR. Facing the defending Champs.........

Sorry Major, but I don’t see it. I hope I’m wrong, but Smith and Cook have been given enough chances. Too many drops and injuries to give me faith. Can’t count on them. Again I could be full of bull. Please guys, prove me wrong this weekend and I will gladly eat Falcon!

Both have been healthy, but getting the throws from the junior varsity QB. Brees is back and can place a catchable ball every time.

Both have dropped passes from Brees as well over their tenure. Turn down your Hill hatred.

They've both had many more opportunities with Brees. I venture to say that percentage of "drops" with Hill are much higher. Do you doubt that?

Don't hate Taysom at all. He's just can't hold Brees' jockstrap when it comes to playing QB. He's an absolute stud as a football player.

Re: Michael Thomas ruled out on Sunday vs Chiefs

I feel like people are being a little hard on Taysom. If we go with him as the starter, there's going to be a development cost attached to him. Taysom is not a Burrow or a Luck who you can just plug in there and he's close to his ceiling. Taysom may or may not pan out long-term, but still it's not a bad gamble. Look at the Bills and the challenges they were able to guide Josh Allen through to get to how he's playing this season. There could be a parallel there.
