To me, Davenport is just a waste of draft picks.

Mahomes broke Davenports ankles repeatedly

Patrick does this to ELITE DE's every week though.

I thought Davenport had #15 under serious duress most of the game. Nothing appeared easy but he's the best QB in the NFL.

When UDFA Carl Granderson and 3rd round pick Hendrickson creates more pressure than a guy that two first round picks were spent on, consider me concerned.

Just checked also;

Hendrickson has more Sacks this year than Davenport has in his career.

It is what it is. Trey got swallowed up vs Philly just last week and is bad in run support. Granderson is a good rotational piece. Not an every down DE/pass rusher.

Check out the piece Underhill did on Davenport last month. This guy creates problems and destruction as well as setting the edge.

Saints can build a competitive defense around Marcus. I'm just not as down on him as others.

Understand how you feel about the offensive play calling ... My take means as much as yours ... if we had the Oline to run consistently we would. We can’t gain separation with 1 wide receiver and play fake with full backfield and Brees not able to stay in the pocket for 3.0 seconds. When we spread the field we force the defense to commit to either man to man or zone and that when Brees was successful.

Cooks, not sure what the issue is but if he doesn’t turn the page soon he will be replaced by Johnston. That little ditty with Brees 4th qtr Brees called out the hot read at the line and Cooks blew it. Happens but but his interaction with Brees ... that a problem.

Bottom line coaches coaches and we Monday morning Quarterback.

That wasn't the only blown hot read. On at least two other (and possibly three plays) the receiver should have cut the route and moved back toward the line. In each case it was one of the young inserts. Brees throws to a point short anticipating that the receiver is going to make the correct read. Each time the ball hit two yards short of the out of position player. Thomas makes that read and is right there to make the play ten times out of ten.

And the drops by both Taysom and Kamara were ugly. They each had more than one. I guess you can blame it on Hill not having a pass thrown his way in over four weeks. Somewhat the same with Kamara. He was averaging almost nine targets per game coming into the first Atlanta game. He saw a total of six targets over the next three games. He had six yesterday and only caught three of them. He still managed 40 yards. No telling what he would have had if he held onto the throws.

By the way, just checked, Taysom was targeted twice and dropped them both.

Davenport had a lot of pressures, where he collapsed the pocket. As you mentioned, he can set the edge better to support the run than Trey.

He is very similar to Jordan...not a speed edge rusher but he can be an every down end. He gets a lot of flack on this site because he isn’t flashy but he makes plays and pressures that help others to get sacks.

I don’t care who gets them since in a lot of cases it takes a team effort.

I 5think this understates the problem, we had Sanders and three guys off the practice squad.

Exactly! And I'm just not talking about catching the ball. I'm talking about being where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be. That was rare.
