Is that because you think it’s harder to find a good corner Major ?

Absolutely.

Circle back pre 2017 game film at corner. Guys like Corey White, PRob, Breaux and Brandon Browner  makes me appreciate a true #1 CB in Lattimore. I could see if we had players like Jabari or Porter behind him but we don't.

Look no further than KC game. Blanket coverage against 2 of the best (Tyreek & Kelce) in the NFL at their positions. Not many corners can lock down threats on Sundays.

If I was GM, Latt and Ramz would be high priorities for me to sign long term.

If we keep Lattimore, it's likely we'll have to pay him like he's a true #1 corner. But is he though?

His PFF grades:

2017 87.7 (ranked 8/97)
2018 71.7 (29 of 87)
2019 68.7 (32 of 97)
2020 51.9 (97 of 124)

Food for thought.

FYI, he graded out miserably versus KC last week.

KC has a tendency to do that to just about every DB. Still think he gets signed over Trey, but hey all we need is a little Loomis magic...

Lattimore played well last Sunday.

PFF graded Patrick Mahommes as "average" but he was great when he needed to be vs Saints.

Statistics aren't always a true indicator of what happens each week.

Well, I see Major’s point about difficulty to replace. It hasn’t been uncommon for, say a Junior Gallete, to excell for a season or 2. Especially when the depth has been there like the last few years.

That kick to CJG sucked too, speaking of injuries.

Very true. The problem is that he's graded out miserably practically every week.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

So what about the rest of his consistently bad season?

Which is understandable if they're comp'ing him to the rest of his games. He sets a very high bar and his "average" when compared to other quarterbacks, is still better than the majority.

I'm ragging on Lattimore because I know we will likely re-sign him and it's going to take a lot of money to do so. He's been underachieving and we'll have to pay him like an elite corner out of necessity, not because he's is one.

Good to see you back Papz!

Lattimore is so inconsistent it's maddening but he is a good DB. In the Saints history he is one of the best CB's they've ever had. I know that's not saying much but it's something.
