I guess the Saints front office did not wish to see how much he would get in the open market & they value his ability … long term.

Something says they still have bad feelings about allowing Malcolm Jenkins to walk many seasons ago & didn't want repeat a mistake at the safety spot.

Liked our DBs without Malcolm Jenkins - just didn't think signing Byrd to that much was the answer either...
