this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; saints are playing all games in san antonio.... I am truly disappointed, I think it should have been in baton rouge, but of course what the fans want means nothing , its all politics http://news.yahoo.com/s/wdsu/20050904/lo_wdsu/2918222...

RE: Its official
When the Saints reach the Superbowl this year and WIN, under all the adversity they will face the city of New Orleans will be reborn again. Don't ever underestimate the resolve of all cajuns. The city of New Orleans will be back better than ever and alot faster than most people think.

"and will not refund ticket holders"-
So the snake keeps his money from LA fans (who won't make the long ass trip to San Antonio on the weekends, considering they have no money, shelter, cars, ect.), and he'll get money for tickets from the San Antonio crowd. Win/win for Benson. |

Wow. I really hope it doesn't turn out this way. If this is what happens, then I will more than likely dump this organization like yesterday's garbage. If this holds true, I can't imagine how I can be a Saints' fan anymore.
Are you kidding me? I'm a struggling college student. If I'm lucky, I'll make about $800 a month. I have bills to pay, over priced text books, and an ungoldly tuition. I'm lucky if I have enough money to eat every day. Some days, I don't. I come from a family that frankly, doesn't make much more money than I do. My dad, a few friends, and I scraped our money together, knowing we were going to hurt financially for the next few months, and purchased Season Tickets at $250 for each person. We haven't made it out to see any of the preseason games because they're on Fridays and we work that day. With all of that said, we live in Louisiana and the majority of this state struggles financially just like we do. But we love our Saints, don't we? We gave all we could to support this team, a team thats been a traditional passion in our families....and we're getting SCREWED! Tom Benson, I hope you stumble upon this messageboard and read what I have to say. I stuck by you through thick and thin, fought for your side against the governor of Louisiana, and believed in you when you said you wanted to keep this team in this state. However, I was foolish. Its apparent to me now that you are absolute scum. We stuck by you and your pitiful excuse for a football organization for years upon years. This state was passionate for your team. The state of Louisiana bled black and gold. Yes, the state...not just New Orleans! But, thats fine. Have it your way. The San Antonio Saints will be a wildly popular money market team that will bring something to Texas that it so passionately wants but had never received...a Super Bowl Championship. Yes, San Antonio, where the fleur-de-lis is a token symbol of the local culture there and the term "Who Dat" is such a common, yet powerfully confident phrase. The people of San Antonio will cherish this team and relish their existance for years to come. Screw you, Tom Benson, you worthless scumbag! (I hope none of this turns out to be true so I can take back these statements and offer out an apology. However, this is coming from a very legit and trustworthy source. If it turns out to be true, then I have no regrets.) |

There is a press conference right now on WWL. From what I am hearing so far, there still is no sure decision and the organization STILL wants to play in Baton Rouge.
I'm still too passionate about what I posted above to delete it, though. I have too much love for this team. Though, an apology to Mr. Benson may be required. I'll wait and see. |

Thanks DJ here is a story from Yahoo sports that was just posted:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns does'nt look like a sure thing to me either and looks like the NFL commissioner might be overstepping his bounds with the team and where they might play. |

After seeing the results from the press conference and that Yahoo! News article, I'm affraid I must apologize to Mr. Benson. I am sorry. I'm just a very passionate Saints fan, obviously. However, I still would like to be refunded for my season tickets or have them honored at other stadiums. I would really hate to lose $250. I could have spent that money on something more important...but, I love my Saints.

Oldies!!! Chill out bro!!! I watched ESPN tonight. John Clayton repots that the Saints still want to play in La an may still play in La. Don't fret just yet bro!
He said tha that the Saints have a good chance of playing in La. He also said that Benson is unlikely to move the team this year. He said the Benson would make more money by selling the team. Keep in mind that any move or sell by Benson would also have to be approved by the league. Basically, if Benson looks bad for selling or re-locating the team, the NFL would look bad. Don't fret just yet bro. We still have a team and will continue to have a team until further notice!!!! 8) |

I'm sorry I flipped, but nobody effs with my Saints! I'm sorry Mr. Benson, but also let this be a lesson on how you should handle this situation. I know I'm not the only Saints' fan that would react that way.
