New Orleans VooDoo QB Danny Wimprine's standout performance in the team's 54-53 victory over the Orlando Predators on Sunday earned him Arena Football League Offensive Player of the Week honors for Week two of the regular season.

Making his first career AFL start in place of an injured Steve Bellisari, Wimprine completed 27-of-37 passes for 309 yards with six touchdown passes and zero interceptions to help lead New Orleans to victory over their Southern Division rivals and even their record at 1-1. His passer rating of 140.0 ranked highest among all quarterbacks during Week two AFL action.

"I am very happy for Danny to receive this recognition," said VooDoo Head Coach Mike Neu. "This type of performance is very encouraging for someone so early in his career in the indoor game. He did an outstanding job on Sunday of running our offense, managing the game and avoiding turnovers."

A New Orleans native, who prepped at John Curtis High School in River Ridge, Wimprine is entering his second season with the VooDoo after departing the University of Memphis as their all-time leader in most major passing categories. In 2008, Wimprine has completed 31-of-48 passes for 393 yards with seven touchdown passes and zero interceptions. His 126.5 passer rating is ranked third in the AFL.

The VooDoo return to action this Sunday when they face the Tampa Bay Storm in a Southern division showdown for first place at the New Orleans Arena. Kickoff is 2 p.m. the game can be heard on Bayou 95.7 FM.
