Anyone knowledgeable about boats?

this is a discussion within the Everything Else Community Forum; I'm looking to purchase a starter boat and would like to get some opinions on the matter. I have a 10-15k price range and I've seen some nice looking bayboats on louisianasportsman.com that I'm interested in. Any fishermen out there?...

Bay Boat • Nautic Star 1800 for sale - Louisiana Sportsman Classifieds, LA

This is just an example of what I'm looking for. 18-21, used, 10-15k. Is this what I should be targeting for a first time boat owner? Are there any tips or need to know things I need to know, look for, or ask before making serious inquiries? Should I be targeting something cheaper in the 5-8k range instead? I'll pretty much just be fishing out of the Lake and Bayou Bienvenue... not a bass guy.

Here's a nice one here ...

Over here ... they have a boat club where you don't buy, but instead pay a membership. There's flexibility in terms of what kind of boat you want to take out that day too. Not bad in that you don't have to buy the farm to play.
Volente Boat Club - Austin Boat Club - Lake Travis, Austin TX

Perhaps they have something like that where you're at.

I'm not set on buying on at this very instant. Just shopping around... maybe I'll get it soon or maybe it'll be at the end of the year.

I use to wakeboard in Lake Travis all the time. Not sure if they have anything like that down here Smash... and why would anyone in their right might let me use one of those lol.
