Is Micheal Vick the best QB in the NFL?

He may quite possibly be at least this year be the best QB in the NFL..

|Mitch| 11-16-2010 02:02 AM

I agree!

Andy Reid has made the most of his passing ability, and with his scrambling ability; very dangerous.

LBCutta 11-16-2010 03:05 AM

Yes he is...hands down. He is down right scary. Good WRs are helping him shine also.

Saintswrath 11-16-2010 05:27 AM

As a Saints fan i am straight hating the fact at how good he is.. but as a football fan i am appreciating just all out good and exciting Skills and ball game! WOW!!!! I hope philly doesn't make the playoffs they will be unstoppable as long as Vick and his WR's are healthy!

neugey 11-16-2010 06:52 AM

It's like Vick has been watching film of Fran Tarkenton ... very heady play with the run and the pass.

TheKillerBs 11-16-2010 08:10 AM

Ron Mexico? Is that you? Quit the shameless self-promotion already!

When Brees stunk it up this year against those fast 3-4 defenses, Vick would've been the perfect counter to that. Payton obviously has no faith in Daniels as he kept Brees in way too long (Arizona, Atlanta, Cleveland).
You don't pull All Pro/Hall of Fame quarterbacks even if they're struggling. Brees is one of the top quarterbacks in the league... that would have been a slap in the face. You'd never see Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, etc. pulled for a game unless is a complete blowout... why would Brees be an exception?

Correlating that into Payton having no faith in Daniels does not relate. Our starting quarterback isn't Alex Smith or Chad Henne... it's Drew Brees. We would have a veteran quarterback backing up Brees if Payton had "no faith" in Chase Daniels.

Exactly Right.
The only thing that would have happened if we pulled brees for some other QB or Mike Vick, would be that we would create a contraversy and basically alienated a guy that has pretty much been the saviour of the city and the organisation. As papz said, Brees is an all pro and i'm going to say will be a hall of famer once his career is over, Mike Vick is playing well but Brees is way way way better. Vick is just a change of pace for the Eagles, i do admit hes playing real well.

saintfan 11-16-2010 12:29 PM

The answer is no. He is dynamic, and he is a much better player post prison than pre, but he still makes it happen with his feet. He needs the time because, in my opinion, he takes a while to read a defense.

What I saw on Monday night looked to me like a team that was not prepared to defend him, and you do have to adjust your game for a player of his caliber.

But the best QB in the NFL? Ummmm no. Brady, Manning, Brees or Rivers and probably a few more before you get to Vick...

QBREES9 11-16-2010 12:43 PM

I hate to say it, but maybe.

papz 11-16-2010 01:25 PM

The NFL... where everything is "what have you done for me lately". Just a couple of weeks ago Chris Ivory put up a great game against the Tampa Bay Bucs... and then people were saying how great of a running back he was going to become here. People are way too quick to jump on and off bandwagons. He had a great game... one that certainly went down in the history books. But the best in the league... personally I don't think so. Without a doubt Vick is the most electrifying football player in the league... but if I had a must win game with everything on the line, he would not be in my top 5.

Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and Big Ben would be my top 5... Vick probably right after that.

jcp026 11-16-2010 01:31 PM

It hurts me to say it, but, at the moment, the just might be. Ouch.

Ashley 11-16-2010 04:05 PM

well i have always hated him do to fact we had to play him twice a year.
But DAMN the dude was unbelievable last night. If he plays like that the rest of the year. Yes he would be the best!
I really hope they don't make the playoffs.

I think Payton wanted Vick but either Loomis or Benson made the call to not bring him in. Vick would've been a perfect backup and Daniels could've been the number 3 qb. When Brees stunk it up this year against those fast 3-4 defenses, Vick would've been the perfect counter to that. I honestly think Vick would've given us a spark in those games and we'd be sitting at 9-0 now.

Vick is a man on a mission this year. He has come black player of the year locked up, the real question is will he get MVP?

vick is setting up his 2nd big payday of his career, he has to shine.he.ll get what macsad just signed for if he keeps that train rolling

saintsfan1976 11-16-2010 04:49 PM

.

Vick is the reason we give people a "second chance".

Speaking as a former 'Vick hater' - I'm actually cheering the guy on. I saw his maturity in the Gruden interview.

Glad to see his transformation and I hope he becomes a beacon of light for embattled youths.

SaintPauly 11-16-2010 05:08 PM

I'm just curious, but before we crown Vick as the "best", what is the Redskins defensive rankings right now? Anyone want to post that? I gave Haslett credit before, on his defensive schemes, but I gotta say, they all played like hot garbage last night. In fact, after the Eagles were up in the 2nd quarter, they all seemed to quit, more than anything else. Vick is a great player, but the best QB in the league? You gotta be kidding me. The skins are in a total rebuild this season, on both sides of the ball, with a new head coach, and an all new coaching staff. Let's not get too carried away here.

Let's also not forget that the Skins beat the Eagles, in THEIR house, the first time they played. Didn't Vick play that game?

CheramieIII 11-16-2010 05:16 PM

The Saints and our great fans are better without Vick. Let me explain: Vick should've never been given an opportunity to play professional football aqain because he didn't just make one or two mistakes and pay for them, he made a killing grounds purposely, he is inhumane purposely, he made money betting on his endeavors purposely, he lied about everything purposel. So you see there were hundreds of mistakes, a couple I could forgive but IMO Michael Vick and everything thug like him has no place on this earth and I mean that with all my heart.

SaintPauly 11-16-2010 05:18 PM

I decided to answer my own question. Going into that game, the Skins were ranked 31st against the pass. Not exactly the best secondary in football I suspect.

"When the statistics are moved to the side - and that will be hard to do - there will be significant questions about the Redskins defense, which must somehow right itself over the season's final seven games. Washington entered the night allowing 393.3 yards per game, third-worst in the NFL. It had been especially susceptible to the pass, ranking 31st in the league at 280.9 yards per game."

Payton has no confidence in Daniel, and it showed. If we had Vick we would be undefeated now. Vick is "the answer" to those fast 3-4 defenses of Pitt, Balt, N England.

Even though we disagree, we can still share a cold one at the end of the day bro.

Funny how you give Vick all this man-love and call him "the answer", yet Sharper, with all his career accomplishments, is an "OK player".

Still two different positions, don't even try and compare the two.

I wasn't comparing the positions. I was comparing the credit you are giving a player who has had a hand full of good games this year in an otherwise mundane career to the lack of credit you gave to a player that has had a Hall of Fame career. Sharper owns records as well. If it's all about performance on the field, then a comparison of Vick's and Sharper's careers leaves no doubt who has been the better performer.

Am i missing something?????????

Horrible comparism bro....you need to go back to the drawing board on that one.

Yeah you did miss something and it is an apt comparison. You obviously aren't trying to read and understand my statements. But that isn't surprising. My point is about YOU...not about Sharper or Vick. Since you don't seem to get it, I will put it as a direct question to you. Why are you willing to heap all this praise on Vick (regardless of his position) and yet make fun of people that praised Sharper (regardless of his position) when Sharper has had a better career as an NFL football player (again read this carefully now...REGARDLESS OF POSITION) and therefore can be regarded the "better" player up to this point?

Do you get it now Bro?

RaginCajun83 11-17-2010 11:21 AM

Vick is the flavor of the week, if they loose to the Giants and Vick does poorly then no one cares what he did this week against a horrible Redskins team .... stop being caught in the moment, one good game does not make you great

SaintPauly 11-17-2010 11:32 AM

I have a better question for this thread, "IS HASLETT THE WORST DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR IN THE LEAGUE RIGHT NOW?"

Both great replies.

I think Vick is playing better than ever and so far looks like a top 10 QB, but Monday night was a combination of Vick being in the zone and the Redskins defense just being gawd-awful.

Let them eat the cheese.

saintsfan601 11-17-2010 01:03 PM

I think in Hasletts case he's one of those rare guys that is a better head coach then he is a coordinator.I feel like he should have been allowed to stay the head coach of the Rams.

TheOak 11-17-2010 01:41 PM

I have to go with Strato on most of his replies.

One great amazing game and people are ready to label Vick the best in the league. 1/2 way into the season people are ready to give him MVP. Where was all this talk when they lost to Indy?

Lets see what he does this week against the Giants Defense before you go giving him the key to the city. I was never a Vick fan and I will never be a Vick fan. He was not 13 years old when he did what he did. He was a grown man. He also didn't stop on his own. He got caught! Quitting after 3 years in jail is like quiting smoking after your told you have lung cancer... Not a representation of strength or great character.

I have a one liner for you.

Bret Favre the whole 2009 Season, well till he met us in the Play Offs.. LOL.... What's he doing now?

saintsfan601 11-17-2010 01:47 PM

x626x funny thing is they beat Indy.

Saintswrath 11-17-2010 02:16 PM

I think he's doing great because they're allowing him the freedom of using all of his gifts.. when he initially went to the Falcons in ATfail they allowed him to use his feet as well as throw the ball mostly he ran to compensate for his lack of accuracy..
Since the dog case and all he's apparently gotten more accurate with the help of mentoring from Mcnabb and now they are allowing him to run his type of offense and allow him the freedom he had in college and his first couple of years in the Pro's.. We're seeing the Real Micheal Vick and he looks very dangerous when he's healthy! YIKES!!!!!!
