A $50 million Turd

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; that's what Deuce looks like. And I'm a huge Deuce fan. The run game cannot be fully blamed on the offensive line. Deuce looks slow, and appears to be going down by the time he reaches the line of scrimmage....

I agree with ya on that one Black, should have cut him before he got to the dresssing room last year in Jacksonville and gave him a bus ticket.

Deuce has looked kind of off this year I think. If it weren't for that last drive of the game, he would have been under 100 yards... again. Also, the number of times he put his head down and fell forward for an extra yard or so occurred more often than they needed to - like when he could have got another few yards by staying on his feet. That, I believe, IS a disturbing trend.

Nothing against Deuce mind you, but I can't say that I wasn't a bit confused by his "diving forward" move, which occurred far more than any other move.

Also, did you see him fail to get past that DB on the second last drive of the game? I a bit disappointing.

Well when you anounce you are going to be relying on the run more this season Defenses tend to key in on the running back. Doesn't help either when he gets hit in the backfield more than up the field. But after saying that yes he looks slower and doesn't seem to have a burst.

Duece was slower last year..He was hurt (ankle) so far this year he has not been deuce like. Maybe it's because until today we haven't been in a position to run him late in the game. At least he finally broke the 100 yard mark in a game today. Isn't this his first 100 yard game this season. Hopefully he will benifit from better playcalling and better play from the 0-line

Dude, I'm a true Saints fan. I always stick around for the second half letdown. (thankfully it didn't come this week)

Deuce was getting tackled in the backfield for most of the game. Stop drinking the moonshine while you're watching the games and you won't miss these things.
By the time he reached the line of scrimmage, untouched, he would lower his head, and start falling down. I just don't get that. It's different from "falling forward for a couple of extra yards". This looks like if he didn't fall forward, and stayed upright, he could gain 5-7 extra yards.

I'm not going off on the guy. He's my favorite player in the league, but I'm not blind. Take away that 30+ yrd run, and he's under 100 again.

Whatever Deuce's problem is/was, it went away in the 4th quarter when they knew even more we would run. Maybe this will give him some confidence in his blockers. At times, it looks like he going through the motions, and that is disappointing. I think teams do key on him though and attempt to make Brooks beat them. Which isn't a bad strategy. But like some said, I sometimes see Deuce falling when it looks like he can make more of a play. Hopefully the 4th quarter of this game wakes him up, and he gets it done. Besides, usually when RBs go over 100 yards they have that one long run that does it. Case in point, McGahee had two against us and he almost broke 100. If Deuce ever gets one of those again, he will be over 100 every week. The problem is getting him to have one of those it seems though.
