Anyone else think Vince Young

has the weirdest release ever?? It's not even a side arm release, it's like he doesn't fully let go or something. Like he's shooting from the hip. He does look like a gamer though.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 08:55 PM

RE: Anyone else think Vince Young

I agree D, but the rumors and articles coming out today say that he would be wise to stay at Texas and win the Heisman and be maybe the first pick next year.

RE: Anyone else think Vince Young

i agree for young to stay. but he has impressed me tonight. but usc is starti8ng their normal come back. can they do it is the question.

JOESAM2002 01-04-2006 09:03 PM

The guy plays with fire and purpose! I like him.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 09:05 PM

Yeah Joe, I like the fact that we get to compare him directly to Leinhart. Young hands down. Leinhart is not doing anything well since the first 5 minutes anyway and he seems confused under pressure.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 09:06 PM

If Young comes out I say take him with the number two, Leinhart is slipping.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 09:09 PM

They're really talkin up Young and not really saying a damn thing about Leinhart. I think they are trying to tell us something.

spkb25 01-04-2006 09:11 PM

well i wouldn't take vince number two either but i said if you read my post that i wouldn't take leinart 2nd at all. people seeing my point a lttle now. usc genrally all year comes back in the seond half. but young has impressed me so far. the only gripe i havewith him is if there is pressure he doesn't seeem to be able to hamdle it. look at the aggies game

MordorIV 01-04-2006 09:18 PM

Guys young will stay unless he gets a crap load of money which is what always happens i see him to stay but... if money is the issue and he gets alot he will go into the draft.

If that happens Saints i think should grab him.

MordorIV 01-04-2006 09:18 PM

CheramieIII stop the blabbing.

HAHAHAHA just a joke D.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 09:24 PM

I seem to remember Texas having a couple of big comebacks in games this season, should be an interesting second half.

saintswhodi 01-04-2006 10:06 PM

Wow. Leinart comes out in the second half and leads two scoring drives, but now we shouldn't take him at number two? Just, wow.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 10:11 PM

I think everyone is just saying that Young should go before Leinhart after seeing the side by side comparison.

saintswhodi 01-04-2006 10:13 PM

Side by side comparison? UT has a better defense than USC. Bush isn't doing too hot, maybe he should fall to the second round? Body of work people. Body of work.

BrooksMustGo 01-04-2006 10:20 PM

<cough, cough> big players.... big games....<cough, cough>

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 10:24 PM

No I don't think Leinhart should fall to the second round maybe the 4th or 5th pick overall not 1 or 2. Now Young should be number 2 if he comes out. That guy is a horse.

LordOfEntropy 01-04-2006 10:28 PM

This is my first time watching Young - now that I've seen him, my opinion is the kid will be good, very good. I like the way he plays.

I think USC has this game though. Too many Longhorns are going down with cramps. Shame. They looked much better before they started losing all those starters.

Um, three straight scoring drives, 25/34 275 yards. Yeah, he's garbage.

This is so strange WhoDi. I like you so well and agree with you most of the time.

It is 3 scoring drives, but it's kind of like watching Fiedler hand the ball to Ricky Williams 40 times a game and calling him a great QB.

LenDale White is the story of this game. If I were the Steelers, I'd be salivating that he falls so far and becomes the heir to the Bus.

saintswhodi 01-04-2006 10:50 PM

Even we are allowed to disagree BMG. We're still cool. 8)

And oh yeah, 14/15 for 182 yards and a TD in the second half. Boy, that Leinart sure does blow. :P

What the hell are you smoking? That's Brett Favre. lol

And Aaron Brooks ain't never went 14/15 at any stage of his football career ever. You know that.

LordOfEntropy 01-04-2006 11:19 PM

HOLY SHIZZNIT!!!! WOW!!!!!!

BrooksMustGo 01-04-2006 11:29 PM

Uh, by the way, just heard Leinert's post game. Classless. I've had enough of one primadonna to go drafting another one.

Vince Young is the man, would be a fabulous pick.

LordOfEntropy 01-04-2006 11:30 PM

That was the best game I've seen in a long long time. Wow. I really like that Young kid. He handled the pressure extremely well. VERY well indeed.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 11:31 PM

YOUNG IS THE MAN. He should be first pick overall if he comes out. That guy is ready.

What did he say?

You got that right. He just put an exclamation point on his draft status.

If Houston wants to stick with David Carr, they need to deal out of that pick. Now the questions are: Will Vince come out knowing that he should be the number 1 pick? and What does Houston do with the one man wrecking crew staring them in the face?

No way Reggie Bush is worth number 1. A guy that can't run between the tackles isn't worth that kind of money.

BlackandBlue 01-04-2006 11:38 PM

You can have the "body of work" and the "One Night Stands"

Give me what I've seen with my own two eyes, throughout the entire season. I'll cast my lot with Lienart.

Rsanders24 01-04-2006 11:40 PM

Basically he said that the defense didn't tackle Vince Young and that is why they lost and that USC is clearly the better team. He showed no respect for what Texas accomplished. I think he was mad that Young clearly out played him!

lynwood 01-04-2006 11:43 PM

I'd love to see vince come out and beat him for the number one pick. and after those comments i'd be afraid of drafting him. sounds a little like something brooks would say.

CheramieIII 01-04-2006 11:44 PM

V. Young, QB
30-40, 267 yds
20 Rush, 200 yds, 3 TDs

and in the National Championship game, nuff said.

Zero Class.

Sounded like he's been reading his own press about being the "greatest of all time" crap. He needed to sack up and like a man admit that he got beaten. Nothing like laying the blame on another unit of the team, that's some leadership to draft onto your team.

It was a postgame interview worthy of Aaron Brooks. It ranks right up there with AB's "I'm a great QB on an average team" interview.

LordOfEntropy 01-04-2006 11:49 PM

I heard Leinart's comment about how the better team was USC, but that Texas happened to have more poinst at the end. Yes, it was classless, IMO. He's already tasted the championship - but he didn't show much class when someone else gets to taste it.

No, I wasn't that impressed with his game. Albeit he's good, very good, I thought he put too much air under the ball on too many throws. I don't get why people are so excited about him.

Not that Young didn't get extremely lucky on that 2nd to last drive though - he should've been intercepted.

Regardless, what impressed me most about Young was how composed he remained under pressure. I mean, he shined. I think he's the type that gets better under pressure.

On that final drive, I loved the closeup they did of him in the huddle, smiling and relaxed, cheering his buddies up, relaxing them. He's a natural.

What a pleasure it was to watch that game.

Rsanders24 01-04-2006 11:54 PM

How can you not like Young over Lienart? Young did more with less talent then and has more upside than Lienart. Lienart is spoiled and I don't think he would make it playing for us.

I completely agree on this. I've been watching Young play in the big 12 since he's been at Texas, but he has really come on strong this season. Tonight has just underscored how special he is.

I think the best thing I've heard about him all season was the note he posted in the Longhorn locker room last spring. "Everyone who wants to beat Ohio State next fall--come work out with me this summer." Guys were driving from all over the state to work out as a team. The guy just personifies leadership. He's a remarkable young man. I wish him every success.

MordorIV 01-05-2006 12:09 AM

Sorry guys to break it to you he WILL NOT ENTER THE DRAFT THIS YEAR he already said that last week in a press conference so he will go next year unless he gets an offer like around 80 million that would swing his head a bit.

shonboy 01-05-2006 01:29 AM

young is our guy, we need a scrambler bc our line blocks no one...but history tells me that the saints will trade the pik and take a special teams player from georgia with the 1st pik we have......the fans should make the pik for the team this season....

..that was BEFORE he became the hottest name in college football since, well, Reggie Bush :)

I'm very impressed with Young, not only the way he plays, but how he carries himself... to quote an NFL coach, "he's got IT" :)

BlackandBlue 01-05-2006 08:00 AM

He's a tremendous athlete. I hate, hate, hate his mechanics, but it works for him, so Vince, don't let people try to mess with it, they'll only screw you up.

I can't believe the outcry after one game to draft Young. He looked awesome, but he will get killed running like that in the NFL. I'm more impressed with what Lienart did against Texas' defense, than Young did against USC's.

I heard Mike Golic get a little upset on the radio this morning in regards to Lienart and his attitude last night after the game. Mike's exact words were, "He just lost the National Championship game- give him a break. What people DON'T know is that shortly after the press conference ended, he was in the Texas locker room, congratulating the players."
